  • Harley headlight problem, any ideas on the cause?

I have a 2002 Super Glide. Last night when I was out riding it I put on my high beam. I switched back to the low beam, no problem. I turned on the high beam again and not only did I not have a high beam, I lost my low beam as well. That's right, no headlight at all. When I switched back to low beam the low beam did come back on. This morning I was riding my bike and the low beam was on. I got home, turned off the bike. A few minutes later I decided to investigate. When I turned the key on I found I had neither a low or a high beam. I took off the headlight. I found the connection the light plugs into was melted in the area where the black wire connects to the connection. I spent the afternoon trying to chase down a possible short but came up with nothing. By the way, all the other lights on the bike continue to work. Any ideas on what caused this? I try to do as much repair work on my bike by myself, but electrical is one of my weaknesses.

  • Has anyone bought a Bowflex and does it really work?

I'm sure you've all seen the ads on TV. If you work out with the Bowflex just 20 minutes a day, 3 times a week, that in no time you start getting results. I'd like to develop my abs and upper body but I'm skeptical about the Bowflex. Wouldn't diet be almost as important? Has anyone bought one of these machines and what kind of results have you experienced?

  • What's the best method to get rid of ants?

Every spring we get black ants in our kitchen. They show up for a month or so, then disappear. We have all packages of food tightly sealed, empty the garbage daily, and wash dirty dishes immediately. But they still show up. I have checked around the foundation of the house and the basement but can't find any signs of them. We have tried various name brand ant killers with no success. Is an exterminator the only solution or does someone know another approach or product that works?

  • If the only motorcycle manufacturer was Harley Davidson, would you ride a Harley or give up motorcycling?

This is a hypothetical question. It's not a trick question. Please no answers about how this would never happen and that Harleys are no good, etc. We all know there will never be only one bike manufactuer. I'm just curious how deep some people's dislike for Harleys really goes and if they would give up something they enjoy, or not.

  • Why do motorcyclists stop riding?

I live in the midwest, in an urban area, where the weather can be anywhere from well below zero to over 100 degrees plus humidity. I have been riding for 30 years and have noticed that when the thermometer dips below 60 or rises above 90 the number of bikes on the road drops drastically. I mean down to maybe one or two other bikes, that's it. I won't ride below 35 as ice can form in shady areas on the road. I don't ride on ice as it can get pretty wild. I've never stopped riding even when the temperature is over 100. When it's cold more layers of clothing go on, when it's hot the layers come off. So why are people willing to give up something they enjoy when all they have to do is adjust what they wear? Are there other reasons? I don't get it.

  • How do you make a circular hole through a brick wall?

I am trying to install a clothes dryer vent to the outside through my outside garage wall. It is a wood stud wall with brick veneer. How do you make a hole in the brick for the vent pipe to go through? This is on a very visible side of the garage and I'd like it to look good. I would appreciate any suggestions.

  • Is it normal for a 2002 Harley Davidson FXD Super Glide to be hard to downshift from 3rd gear to neutral?

I am considering the purchase of a 2002 H-D FXD from a private seller. It is in great shape and has less than 4,000 miles on it. The seller let me test ride it. It was difficult to downshift from 3rd to neutral. It was not impossible, but it took noticeably more effort to shift. Since I am not a seasoned Harley rider, yet, I am not sure if this is typical or if there is a serious problem. Any advise?
