I'm a college student with a double major in physics and geography and earth science and double minors in Spanish and climatology / meteorology. I enjoy making stained glass, ceramics and many other crafts, even though I don't have much time to do so during the school year. I'm an avid reader of fantasy/sci-fi novels and watch many genres of movies, as well as Lost, House, Psych, NCIS and various other TV series. I love horses, and work as a summer camp counselor at a local stable and volunteer at a theraputic riding stable for people with disabilities.

  • Funny Fantasy Book Recommendations?

I'm fairly bored with my personal library at the moment and am looking for some suggestions of humorous fantasy/sci-fi books. I'm not too picky about subject matter, just looking for something new and different. A few things about my past reads; I love the Hitchhiker's Guide, have read just about every David and Leigh Eddings book, enjoy Anne Bishop's Black Jewels and Tir Alainn books, and was surprisingly amused by the familial relationships in the Twilight books (I found the third one to be particularly laugh-out-loud funny) although I hated Meyers' general lack of sophistication. I love The Wheel of Time, McKiernan's Mithgar and Once Upon A ... novels, Lackey and Mallory's Obsidian Trilogy, and Deborah Chester's Sword, Ring and Chalice books, but none of them have quite the tone that I feel like reading. If it's not too much trouble, please don't just give me a list of every book you think of, but maybe limit it to one or two and tell me what you liked about them instead. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

  • Framing double-sided posters?

I'm trying to figure out a way to frame several double-sided movie posters so that I don't have to take them out of the frame and turn them over to display the reverse image on the back. I'm also on kind of a tight budget, so I would like to avoid custom framing charges, if possible. :) Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Greenhouse effect problem?

I'm doing homework for a college climate class, and am stuck on one of the problems. It goes as such: We are trying to solve for the ground temperature of the Earth using a one-layer model of the atmosphere, but assuming that the atmosphere absorbs visible light rather than allowing it to pass through (modeling a dusty, opaque atmosphere). We are assuming that the albedo of the Earth stays the same. We have done this same process for the bare rock model, regular one-layer and two layer models, but I don't quite understand how to take the differences in the light wave absorption into account. I don't want you to solve the problem for me (unless it's necessary to use numbers in your explanation), but some help with the differences that the dust causes in the calculations would be a big help. Thanks!

  • Name of Caspian's horse in the new Narnia?

Anyone know the real name of the Friesian that plays Caspian's horse in the new Narnia movie? I just got back from the theater, and that is one of the most gorgeous horses I've ever seen! It was a great movie, in case you're thinking of going to see it!
