I have no clue how to begin this derivative. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am trying to understand how to determine the geometric and optical isomers for the following complex ions.

[Co(C2O4)3]3-

geometric isomers: 0 (I think)

optical isomers: No idea

[Co(NH3)3Cl3]2+

geometric isomers: No idea

optical isomers: No idea

[Co(C2O4)2Cl2]3-

geometric isomers: 0

optical isomers: No idea

I am not sure how to check for optical isomers at all. Any help would be appreciated.

In basic solution, aluminum metal is a strong reducing agent and is oxidized to AlO2-. Give balanced equations for the reaction of Al in basic solution with the following.

(a) NaNO3, to give ammonia

My Answer: NO3- + 3Al + 3OH- → NH3 + 3AlO2-

(b) water, to give hydrogen

My Answer: ???

(c) Na2SnO3, to give metallic tin

My Answer: Na2SnO3 + H2O + Al → Sn + Na+ + OH- + AlO2-

I know my answers for a and c are wrong but i dont know why, any help would be appreciated

For this one I put:

4Na(s) + O2(g) --> 2Na2O(s)

And i got the following error:

K(s) + O2(g) →

For this one I put:

4K(s) + O2(g) --> 2K2O(s)

And I got the following error:

The reaction described in your answer is not balanced. Parts of a product formula in your answer appear to be transposed.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong...

I need to break down the following reaction into its half-reactions.

3 Mg + N2 → Mg3N2

The following are answers I have tried but were wrong:

Oxidation

3 Mg --> 3Mg^2+ + 2e^-

3 Mg --> (Mg3)^2+ + 2e^-

Reduction

N2 + 3e^- --> 2N^3-

N2 + 3e^- --> (N2)^3-

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

The questions states that there is a benzoate buffer which is 0.18 M in benzoic acid (C6H5OOH) and 0.18 M in benzoate ion (C6H5OO‾ ), giving a pH of 4.19. Calculate the pH if 1.3 mL of 1.5 M NaOH(aq) was added to 193 mL of the buffer solution.

Im not sure whether to use ice diagrams or the henderson hasselbach equation. When i did this my answer came out to 4.74 which was wrong. Can anyone explain how to do this?

I was asked to calculate the pH of the following solution:

7.1 x 10-4 M Ba(OH)2

So I did the following: kw = ka x kb

ka = 1.0 x 10-14/7.1 x 10-4 = 1.408 x 10-11

-log(1.401 x 10-11) = 10.85125

Now I have tried the following answer: 10.85, 10.9, 10.74(random guess) and I've gotten the following response

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong????

I am suppose to calculate H+ concentrations with the following pH values and answer should have the appropriate sig figs. I posted my answers below. Any help would be appreciated

H+ = 10^(-2.54) = .00288

H+ = 10^(-11.07) = 8.511e-12

H+ = 10^(-6.56) = 2.75e-7

H+ = 10^(-15.00) = 1.00e-15

Hey I was asked to calculate the pH of 0.0080 M HCl with the correct sig figs. So I did -log(.0080) which was equal to 2.0969. Now i thought that .0080 had 2 sig figs and therefore meant that the correct pH was 2.1 but that was marked incorrect. Can anyone please tell me the correct answer with the correct number of sig figs?
