My boyfriend has a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse with an automatic transmission. He took it to several shops today and was advised that the transmission pump seal was leaking. He was told to have the pump and torque converter replaced. We know that the pump and torque converter are functioning normally and do not want to pay to have these parts replaced when they are clearly working. I would like to know how difficult it would be to replace the seal since I found the pump seal online for $14 (which is way cheaper than the nearly $1000 for repairs). I am looking for level of difficulty, recommended tools, and step by step instructions. We have a relative who owns a tire shop with a lift and we think we may be able to do this ourselves. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
