  • Things to add to my biology investigation?

In my final year at secondary school/high school, I have to do a project. I have based my project around blood and currently have the these three main aims/investigations:

    1. Aspirins antiplatelet properties on pig blood

2.The effect of osmotic pressure on red blood cells.

3.Immune systems natural response to alien blood antigens.

Two of these are basically text book experiments, therefore should not be too hard. Although I cannot think of anything else to add to my project as I fear it will be too short.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

  • Making hyper, iso and hypotonic solutions to be added to blood?

One of the aims to investigate in my biology project is to see the effects of adding hyper, iso and hypotonic solutions to blood. Obviously I know what will happen as this is a text book experiment.

Please include the chemicals I require and detailed steps! Thank you.

  • SSDs over HDD - disadvantage and benefits?

My systems being held back by my mechanical 5400RPM hard drive being so slow. I am thinking of upgrading to an SSD for the faster read and writes but there are many mixed things said: some say they have a limited read or write cycle of a certain number, some say that since they have no moving parts they will outlast a slower conventional hard drive.

Will me upgrading from a 5400RPM hard drive to an SSD speed my system up significantly - especially with boot times? I rarely do mass file transfers and I intend to game (Battlefield 4), when am not gaming am just surfing the web, word processing etc. If I do replace my current hard drive for an SSD I can use that for large files, downloads, etc to prevent storage on my SSD.

Who is a reliable SSD manufacturer? Estimated average life span of SSD's over HDD? And lastly if you own an SSD and came from using a HD has SSD benefited you significantly?

    Thank you.

  • Are head rushes/Orthistatic Hypotension normal?

I need some verification, I've blacked out from this twice. And I know why it happens, but its just my family keep saying that it SHOULD NEVER happen but obviously it should happen I mean if anyone's blood pressure suddenly drops you will obviously suffer from hypotension.

I tend to jump out of bed from a lying posture to a stand posture, but usually I only get slightly dizzy and blurred vision but rarely I black out.

In my opinion I am a healthy boy: (info if needed)

    16 years old

    BMI of ~22

    15% body fat

    6ft

Someone please do correct me if am wrong and any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  • PS3 to monitor 'out of range' error?

I have my PS3 Hooked up to my bedroom monitor, but every time I turn it on an error message 'out of range' I know what this means, that the PS3 Is outputting in a higher resolution than my monitors capabilities. But my question is how do I change my PS3 output? I tried the hold down until one beep, but the same message appears. I have a 40" 3D TV 1080p that I played it on so am worried that it is outputting those settings to my monitor.

How do I change the settings to output it within my monitors capability?

  • How many calories do I have to intake to start my metabolism? especially in the morning?

What is the minimum calorie intake to start my bodies metabolism?

    My information: (if needed)

    RMR :1853-1860

    Male

    16 years old

    72.5KG

~8% body fat (last time I checked, but I doubt this is very accurate)

An estimate would be great! I just don't want to over eat in calories when I just want to start my metabolism. Any tips or advice would be great too.

    Thanks

  • My spots have gone down, but its still tender and a bit hard?

  • How to prevent the long term scarring of spots after a it has gone down?

I seem to get these dark marking on my face when my spot has gone down. I dont pop them AT ALL. I just let it go down and apply spot cream to treat the inflammation. I exfoliate weekly. Any advice to prevent these marks? I dont mind the odd spot now and then but the markings really build up and it takes a while for them to disappear.

  • PS3 cannot utilize full internet bandwidth?

I recently switched to a faster ISP, mainly for gaming (because everyone always downs my speed in the house, streaming) 60mb down and 2-3mb up. I tested the PS3 for ~ups and downs. <20MB down and a 1-1.5down... WTF. And the worst thing is when someone streams data in my house my down goes down to ~10mb. Cmon seriously? wheres the rest of my 40MB i paid for?

  • Why is my premium laptop lagging with such simple tasks!!!?

    SPECS :

    3.4GHz i7 4Cores, 8 Threads

    8GB RAM

    5400RPM

    nVidia 650M GPU

My laptop lags SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad during start ups and a few minutes after the windows log on tune. (Though this lag disappears after ~10mins after start up.) Nothing is on load - everything is @ <6% usage (ex RAM @ ~30%). I click iTunes and it takes >1mins to bring it up. It feels like I have a 20 year old PC with a single core processor???

Is it the fact that I have a 5400RPM terabyte HDD? If i swap this out for a 7200RPM or SSD would this solve this rage inducing lag?

    Also I have a 8GB cached SSD.

Sorry for this rant, but I didn't pay £1000 for a lag.
