This guy I'm talking to was my boyfriend for a year and a half... I met him when I was sixteen and for two years we didn't talk... He dumped me and it was because my mom didn't like him because he was Puerto Rican and I'm white. I've always loved him and he feels the same way about me. I kept in contact with his mom for two years and some people say when you marry/date a hispanic person you marry the whole family. I have a feeling if I didn't talk to his mom for years we wouldn't be talking right now. His mom wants me to finish school,get my driver's license and move in with their family and marry her son. I love him and so does he, but my mom has changed. She doesn't mind if I date Puerto Ricans anymore since it took me two years to convince her, but I don't think she'll ever like my ex who I'm now talking to again. He's very family orriented which is why we stopped talking when I was seventeen because my mom got in the way. I want to pursue a teaching career and this year 2010 is the year I graduate high school. What do you think I should do?

I'm eighteen years old. I'm in a serious relationship with my new boyfriend of a month. My mom brought me to woman's health doctor today and it felt very weird. It was my first exam and I had no idea what to expect because my mom didn't tell me. My mom did tell me she wanted to put me on some kind of birth control, but I'm a virgin. I guess she thinks I won't be for long with this guy I'm dating and she wants me to be protected. I told her I'd wait till marriage, but she doesn't think I will because no one in our family waited till marriage. Anyways, I was freaking out and I can't believe I own birth control, I can't believe that it's my responsibility to take it and that I have to take it at the same time everyday. My mom wants me to start taking it even before I have sex because she wants to know if I have any side effects from taking it. My boyfriend is the one that wants to have sex, but he said he's not going to want me to/ask me until at least a year. My over religious grandmother got pregnant at seventeen and told me my mom was stupid for bringing me to a woman's health care doctor. Today was just very traumatizing, so my mom took me to cold stone after wards for ice cream. I didn't feel any better because I got a head ache from all the stress... That exam they do for you is just weird, or at least it was for me because it was my first one and if you have to go once a year. Can you give me some advice with all this stress and thoughts about my mom,boyfriend, and birth control...

Please help me find a song I can listen to, to help me get over this situation. My dad wasn't ever a really big part of my life. My mom left my dad when I was two and she met someone else and got re married and had a son and they got divorced and then my mom got remarried for the last time. So I'm still not really over all of this. My two step dads are involved in my life, but there's still something missing with my real biological father not caring to be a part of my life. I saw him once this year just a couple weeks ago and we went camping. My two older half sisters were there with us and my dad was drunk and told me to go sleep with my sister's husband. I don't think he even knew what he was really saying. I always get the feeling my dad doesn't care because every time I see him his girlfriends always come first. I'm eighteen now and I can't do this anymore. I told him in an email just recently that I don't want him in my life anymore and now my mom is sending me to counseling to get over this/ how to cope with my dad, but I don't know if I'll ever get over this. He's sixty and I'm eighteen and my dad isn't going to be around much longer and he's missing out on me. My oldest half sister stayed out of his life for fourteen years and I said I would never do that, but here I am telling him I don't want him in my life anymore, but then my sister turned thirty two and got married and our dad started talking to her again. I feel like my dad doesn't care or love me enough sometimes to have a solid relationship with me. He's been telling me my whole life it's my fault or blaming my mom. What song can you give me to listen to or advice on how to cope with this?

I've known this guy since I was sixteen and I'm eighteen now. He used to work with me and now he's coming back to work with me. I'm eighteen now and he's twenty five. My mom and my step dad adore him. He asked me out, but I want to take things slow. I want to spend time with him one on one because he's really shy and sweet. He's been to my house for Thanks Giving and different occasions. He lived with my older step sister for a year, but I never really thought anything of it because she's lesbian, but she's trying to talk me out of liking him. My mom and my step dad said that if the guy and I really like each other we should go for it, but I don't want to hurt my step sister. I really like him and I feel like we can talk about anything. I mean I've known him since I was sixteen and now all these feelings are exploding for him I was able to keep it to myself for a couple of years, but I told him how I felt yesterday and my step sister found out and she's angry/ upset and we talked about it over myspace and now she's talking to my step dad her dad over the phone and I don't understand why she can't talk to me about it over the phone. I really like this guy and I don't want to create any drama and I don't want her to scare him off, by her telling him I'm too young, but my mom and my step dad are completely okay with it, but for some reason she's not. My mom even said she'd want him as a son in law which is a shocker because most of the guys I bring home my mom calls losers and I'm just going crazy!! What should I do?

My hair is naturally curly and thick. It's only shoulder length and longer in the back just by a couple inches... You know how curly hair is all different lengths. So I'm trying to grow my hair to the middle of my back and I was just wondering how long that might take? I don't fry or damage my hair. It's always air dried or else we'd end up with a poodle on my head and I don't straighten it either and occasionally I'll get trims. I also use a wide tooth comb and leave in conditioners. I never use product with alcohol in it because it's more likely to cause split ends...

I like my hair to be this length: I haven't tried growing my hair out long since I was nine so I don't know how long it will take because I always cut it, but I remember when I was little my hair used to be this long...

He's twenty five and I'm eighteen. My mom approves of him and that makes me happy because most of the guys I've dated in my past have been in high school just like me, but they're really immature. This guy wants to hang out with me, but I don't know when. He said today after work he's going down town. Do you think he was hinting towards anything? I was at the hair salon the other day just to get my hair trimmed, I'm trying to grow it out to the middle of my back. My hair is really thick and curly. I'm white, but my hair isn't like white peoples hair. The stylist was talking to me and she said I have Puerto Rican hair, but I just don't know it yet. I guess she thought I had Puerto Rican hair because she was Puerto Rican. What do you think my stylist meant by all of what she was saying?

I'm involved in the Puerto Rican culture. It's all because of an ex boyfriend two years ago. I wasn't really involved/into the culture when I was with him, but once we broke up I became really involved in it. I started cooking arroz con gandules,empanadas,dulce tres leches and other dishes. Then I started listening to Reggaeton and Bachata. Then I started reading about Latino/Puerto Rican culture. Then I put a Puerto Rican flag on the front of my binder for my class for Spanish two. People at school really started to notice that I was into the Puerto Rican culture when I put the flag on my binder and I read books about it. I'm white and into the culture and at school no one understands me, maybe not everyone, but at least once a week I have someone ask me why I'm so into the Puerto Rican culture and people are telling me I need to change and that I'm weird. I've also lost friends of it because they don't understand. People don't know about my experiences so they judge me based off of the books,music and my flag on my binder. I just want to feel accepted. Only my really close friends that have an open mind understand, but other people around me just judge me and don't understand. They think I'm trying to be something that I'm not because they don't truly know me, they're just judging me based off of what they see.[books,music, and the flag on my binder]. Other then that they know nothing... What do you think I should do? Thanks....
