I just watched the History Channel's Aftershock documentary on Netflix and I was intrigued by a segment of the program. In a nutshell the gang was created by a native american and a former slave in retaliation of a white mob killing Lowry's father and an escaped Confederate POW during the Reconstruction years after the Civil War. I was amazed at the story and the fact that I never heard of it.
