This is from the movie "Maverick" with Mel Gibson.

He owes four people 20 dollars. He pays them with with a 100 dollar bill. He asks for change. They each pay the change in different amounts. Let's say the exact amounts were 17, 3, 20, and 40. That leaves 80 dollars for them to split between the four of them.

Could someone break this down algebraically for me?

Today during desert i had a piece of fruit that was very sweet.

It was orange...shaped like a very large olive....and was hollowed in the middle (like a pitted olive)....and had the pithiness of a canned peach.

I was dining with my father recently and he tipped. I laughed at him. Isn't tipping in a large Chinese buffet restaurant pointless? Do you think the waitstaff (or grill operator in some places) will actually collect that tip? No way. Most Chinese places are plugged into a network monopoly fueled by indentured servitude. I lovingly refer to it as the "Chinese Mafia". So when you tip, you are intentionally overpaying your check and making the owners richer. The waitstaff will never see that money...as their income is not dependent upon tips. They are drawing a base salary agreed upon by their superiors within the network. Also they have no expenses as they live with the owners and have no car. In short, they are not here to stay...they are just here for the work and will return to China. That's why you rarely see an older waiter or waitress.

Not all are like this. Some are independent and family owned. You can always tell this because their operation is small, their food tastes very unique, and they have very little turnover in waitstaff.

So do you tip? And have you ever thought about it this way before?

I recently bought some "yellow potatoes" from Bi-Lo and made mashed potatoes with them. They were quite delicious.

Think about this rationally. People yell ILLEGAL! when talking about downloading movies. But these same people have no trouble stealing music. Who do you think needs the money more...musicians or filmmakers? Think of how much movie prices are....and how many people still take the time to go see movies. The movie industry isn't losing any significant amount of income because people are sharing. Musicians on the other hand are taking a burn every time you steal a song or album. The music industry is very strapped for money and thus the lower quality of music we are hearing today.

So, don't be a hypocrite. If you're not gonna download movies, don't download music either. Your double standards disgust me.

Can someone make a cam copy of a new 3-d movie and share it as a torrent, and it will appear 3d on my monitor? Or am I just totally dreaming here?

The reason I ask is because you need the 3d glasses to see the 3d effects. However, Nintendo is coming out with a 3d DS system that will not require glasses for the effects. How is that possible?
