My wife's I-485 (application for permanent residence) was denied, what can I do?
We just received notice that the application was denied because we failed to appear for an appointment on July 20. The notice of denial says that it's not subject to appeals.
HOWEVER, as of yesterday, the most recent information I could find is that the most recent notice they had sent was returned on May 24 as undeliverable (the notice of the appointment, which we missed). We did not move or change our address. But we never received the notice of appointment. They apparently knew it was returned, yet they maintained the appointment and denied the application when we failed to appear.
Three weeks ago I discovered that the notice had been returned and I called their offices to correct this problem and was told that the notice would be sent again within 30 days. Their offices said they couldn't provide me with any additional details. We still haven't received that notice.
