  • Why won't all LEDs light up?

I am using a CR2016 battery light some LEDs when I discovered that if I place a yellow, red, and green together in parallel, they all light up just fine. If I have a red and blue together in parallel the blue goes out and the red stays on. This happens when I try the yellow and green with the blue as well. If I have two blue LEDs or a blue and a white LED together in parallel, everything works just fine. I reckon it's because the white LED has a blue component in it, so it must be the same reason.

    Any thoughts?

  • Should I refinance my mortgage?

I'm not sure how much refinancing typically cost. I was given the figures below by a lender, how do they look? Loan balance is $175k currently. Originally 180k, had a 20% down @ 5.25% for 30 years.

15 year, zero point, escrowing for taxes and insurance, 3.75%.

    Closing costs:

Lender fee $995 ($495 paid in advance)

    Appraisal approximately $450

Escrow setups will be estimated at 6 months of taxes and 6 months of insurance

Short term interest will be estimated at 15 days

    Title costs:

    Escrow Coordination Fee $550.00

    Settlement or Closing Fee $125.00

    Lender's Coverage $688.00

ENDORSEMENT 8.1 (Environmental Protection Lien) Endorsement $25.00

    Recording Fee Mortgage $81.00

    Fees are an estimate only.

    Total Title Costs: $1,469.00

  • Which episode of Battlestar Galactica did Lee Adama see Starbuck again?

I can't remember which episode I stopped at, but it was when Lee Adama was piloting and sees Starbuck in another vehicle (after she fell into the big hole and disappeared for a while) and she said something like "I've been to Earth" or "Everything will be okay" or something like that. Which episode/season is that?

    Thanks!

  • Which one of these computers is the better deal?

I'm trying to decide between these two Costco computers:

    http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=1...

    http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=1...

One has a better graphics card. But I'm okay with just buying one on Newegg and installing it myself.

There is a slight difference in the CPU, but is it a big deal?

I'm trying to decide which one is the better deal. I wanted to get the $999 one, but the $799 one looks essentially the same, just needs a graphics card upgrade.

Please give some suggestions. Which one should I get?

  • Which computer should I order?

I am getting a new computer, but can't decide between these two, both of which are from Costco.com:

    http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=1...

    http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=1...

Everything seems to be about the same for the two, except for the processor. I wanted to get the i7 860 one until I saw the Phenom II x6 1055T version.

Also, one has bluray, which is not a big deal.

I do NOT plan to upgrade parts on the computer myself after purchase.

Now which one should I get? both seem pretty good, but I want to choose the best deal.

I do play games such as WoW, Fallout 3, and would like to play Starcraft and Diablo later on.

  • Is there a type of visa for parents to visit the US annually?

My parents are retired outside the US. Is there a type of visa they can get where they are able to return to the US every year to visit me for a certain number of years? Or do they have to apply for a B-2 tourist visa every time they visit?

  • Green card expired 10 years ago, is it still possible to renew it?

My parents are living out of the country right now and they have green cards that expired 10 years go.

Can they return to the US with an expired green card?

Is it still possible to renew it?

(if so, which form should they fill out? is it still the I-90? Can they be rejected if they apply?)

Can they come back to the US with expired green cards?

Is it possible to renew the green card from outside the US?

I know it's a lot of questions, but anything will help. They think that they have lost permanent residence status, but I was told that their residency status does not change.

    Thank you.

  • Should I completely redo my lawn?

Our new house has lots of weeds in the front lawn. A month ago, we managed to kill all the weeds, but the weather is getting warmer so the weeds are coming back (mostly crabgrass). There's some grass on the lawn that covers about 25% of the lawn and the rest is dried/dead weeds. Should we tear out the entire lawn and start over? or is there a easier way to get ride of the weeds and get some grass back?

  • What types of plants should be planted in front of the house that's low maintenance?

I was thinking about daisies but maybe that's too tacky? I'm not too concern whether it has flowers or not, just something nice and green and easy to care for. Preferably something that doesn't require a lot of watering and lasts year round with minimal leaves to clean up.

  • How do I redo a weed filled lawn?

The house we just purchased has a weed filled front lawn. There is little grass on the lawn (about 5% grass) and the rest is covered with crab grass and other weeds. It is now early January in northern Cali and the temperature is a little on the cold side, so the rep from Lowe's said to wait until Spring to till/remove the lawn then put sod or grass seed on it. Can anyone help explain (in detail if possible as I know nothing about lawns) on what to do? I'd like to spend as little as possible. Seeding would be a more cost effective method.

    Thanks!

  • Newton's Third Law of Motion?

A brick hits a glass window, the brick breaks the window.

Explain why the magnitude of the force of the brick on the glass is equal to the magnitude of the force the glass on the brick.

What I'm confused about is why does the glass break if the forces are equal?

  • Physics question, please help (Force and Motion)?

A car is skidding out of control on a horizontal icy (frictionless) road. It has a mass of 2000kg and it is headed directly at Lois Lane at a speed of 45.0 m/s. When the car is 200m from her, Superman begins to exert a steady force on the car, F, relative to the horizontal with a magnitude of 13000N at a downward angle of 30 degrees. Was Superman correct? Was the for enough to stop the car before hitting Lois?

  • How do I stop my dog from chasing squirrels?

She whines and gets completely excited when she sees a squirrel in the backyard or on walks. I've tried the food trick where I make her sit then give her food, but she completely avoids the food or any other object I put in front of her, not even her favorite toy can distract her when she's got her eye on a squirrel. She is clicker trained and is quite good normally, but she's really crazy when it comes to seeing a squirrel/cat.

She is a german shepherd beagle mix.

    Any suggestions?

  • (HELP) Red Light Violation (not by camera) San Francisco (judges/officers please help!)?

We were turning left at a green light, but the person in front of us took a really long to turn so light had already turned red when the car in front of us had turned. By the time we could turn, the traffic was already going on the crossing street, so, we had no choice but to stay with 1/2 the car crossing the white line, we were NOT blocking traffic, but the car did cross the white line. Either way, whether we turned on the red light, or just stopped there, I guess we could of gotten a ticket because the officer was maybe only a block behind us on a bike.

Thus, the officer gave us a ticket for a Red Light Violation.

I explained our situation to the officer but the ticket still remains. He did say that if we fought it we could probably win, but he might of just been saying it just to make us feel better.

We are thinking about contesting the ticket.

What are our chances of getting the ticket canceled? or reduced?
