Solicitors holding title deeds! Illegal?
please can I have some advice:
My mother is selling her house via part ex with Bovis homes as result of previous buyer pulling out. She got a good offer from Bovis and has decided to accept, obviously she has had to switch to a different solicitor. The previous solicitor was given a cheque of £500 and didnt even have to finish the job now she has a new solicitor in Solihull and they want a cheque of £300 just to begin the process however they need the title deeds to the house which the other solicitor has and is asking for £140 when she collects them! P.S I understand about release fee's and that the solicitors do this however in her contract with them they do not state that they would do this nor the cost of it! Also they never asked my mom to put the deeds into storage nor did she request it! Now they want a fee that is incredibly inflated and she does not owe any more money to these solicitors. Are they allowed to do this?what should she do?

2 AnswersLaw & Ethics9 years agoChain rule help please !?
okay i understand the chain rule but need help with the thinking behind this thanks :)
so the problem was differentiate: y = sqrt(13x^2 -5x+8)
now i got to this which is right :
y' = (1/2)(13x^2 - 5x + 8)^-1/2 (26x - 5)
and i checked the answerbook and on its steps it got from that to this :
y' = 26x - 5 / 2(13x^2-5x+8)^1/2
I don't understand how we get from it being 1/2 multpied by the (stuff)^ -1/2 then turn that negative half into fraction with a postive half and 2 at the front please help i think i've missed somthing in pre-calculus but don't know what.
