  • Would you like to play an anime recommendation game?

This is a sort of anime recommendation game. The goal: a list of anime that you'd recommend from different categories.

    1) Go here: http://www.anime-planet.com/tags/

    2) Click on "Anime" next to each category. Do this with 5-10 categories (whichever ones you want).

    3) For each category, choose one anime in the list that you think is the BEST.

    4) NO REPEATING AN ANIME FOR MORE THAN ONE CATEGORY.

    5) Post your list.

Try to pick some that are normal (like Action, Comedy, Drama, Romance, etc.) and also some weirder categories (like Gender Bender, Mindf*ck, Person in a Strange World, Slow-Paced, etc.)

    Have fun!

  • 4chan recommended anime pic?

I'm looking for a large picture from 4chan (I think from /a/) made up of a bunch of smaller pictures of anime series, with the name of the anime beneath each picture. It lists, like, 90% of the quintessential anime shows to watch from the last couple of decades.

At the top it says something like "Stop! Before you recommend an anime, have you seen these?"

Anyone got this? I want to use it as a part of my answer to a new anime fan.

  • Anime fans, have you read this article? (IMPORTANT)?

Future of 'anime' industry in doubt:

    http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/nn20090304f...

Here's the really important part (though all of it's important):

    ---

From Yukio Kawasaki, manager of TV Tokyo's animation business department:

"Animation isn't free. It's the product of hard work and a lot of money, and we cannot continue producing quality content without the financial help from fans," [...]

"We are seriously concerned that the industry will not survive if things go on like this," he said, acknowledging that whether their new plan succeeds or not, the structural issue undermining the industry will still exist.

    ---

Guys. You know all those questions we get about "why should I buy anime when I can get it on the internet for free?" THIS IS WHY.

I buy anime DVDs when I can. But, yeah, just went and bought a membership at http://www.crunchyroll.com/

Here's the question: What do you, personally, think of this article? Feel about it?

And will you consider passing this on to other anime fans? (If the word gets out, maybe we can help.)

  • Best/favorite anime ending sequences?

I'm bored, and someone did a poll on favorite anime openings recently, and I'm curious.

What do you think are the best anime ending sequences? Or your favorites? NOT JUST THE SONG, the actual animated ending sequence.

Cool songs are great, but bonus points for ending sequences with good animation, which tell you something about the actual anime, which have great atmosphere (or are breathtaking), or which tell some kind of story.

LINK VIDEOS OF THE ENDING SEQUENCE(S)! From Youtube or Veoh or something. Even if the ending sequence is really awesome, we'll have no idea what you're talking about if you don't link it!

Here are some that I like, personally:
