So the question asked, 'State what is meant by the photoelectric effect?' (1)

I answered, 'When photons of energy greater than the work function of the metal are incident, they will cause electrons to be emitted.'

In the mark scheme it talked about the threshold frequency. I'm a bit confused when I'd use the threshold frequency or the work function in my answer?

I know amino acids can form hydrogen bonds because of the amine and carboxylic acid group, so they are soluble in water. But are they are polar molecules, or will dissolve in a polar solvent that isn't water? Does the R chain matter if its polar or not, i.e it could be hydrophobic or hydrophilic.

The questions is about TLC with amino acids dotted on the base line and asks if a more polar solvent if used how will that change the Rf value? (These amino acids have a hydrophobic R group)

I'm getting really close with this girl, we meet up, go on dates, go round each other's houses, but she can't drop her ex boyfriend, she says, "he's got no one else to talk to, and he said he'll cut if she leaves him", now I don't understand why she just can't drop him.
