Mom to 2 boys!
how to tell if this is depression or just hormones?
This is my third pregnancy and it has just been awful. I am 24 weeks and still have morning sickness every day. Around 20 weeks, I developed hip and tailbone pain so bad that sometimes I just lay in bed and cry. I have now started having night time leg cramps and carpal tunnel which keeps me awake all night. I am completely miserable and want this to be over with. When I think of my baby, I do not think "I can't wait to see her". My thought is usually "I can't wait to get it out of me." i don't feel like I care about the baby at all. I'm barely eating, barely sleeping, and I'm having difficulty caring for my 2 other children as I barely feel like I can function anymore. I have been trying to call my doctor's office for a week now, but no one has picked up and no one has returned my message. I just don't know what to do.
2 AnswersPregnancy8 years agoIs this normal? Never had it before?
I am on my third pregnancy and having horrible hip, tailbone, and lower back pain. I am 23 weeks and this started about 2 weeks ago. I know the pain itself is normal, but is it normal that it hurts so bad that I sometimes have to lay in bed all day and have trouble caring for my other 2 children? I tried to ask about it at my appointment the other day, but I think the lady was a student nurse because she was all kinds of wrong that day. I just don't know if it's normal to hurt this bad this early. If I were 30+ weeks, I would assume it was normal. Thanks in advance.
I know this is the wrong section but I never get good answers in the pregnancy section.
4 AnswersParenting8 years agoHas anyone refused the glucose tolerance test?
I am thinking about refusing it for multiple reasons. This is my third pregnancy, I will be having a c-section anyway, my other two were both over 9 lbs anyway, and I have never had gestational diabetes. I have also had a very stressful pregnancy and wish to avoid any further stress. Due to recent pregnancy related tests, I am very turned off by any further testing at this point. Has anyone refused this test? Did everything turn out to be ok anyway? Did you have to fight your doctor about it or did they just say ok and let you refuse it? Thanks.
4 AnswersParenting8 years agoTest results came back, high AFP?
I was wondering if anyone else has had this? She told me that 9 times out of 10 it's nothing, and when I looked it up most sites said it is often nothing. I'm just wondering what happened to other people that have had this. At my last ultrasound she said she might see a second baby but she wasn't sure and I've read that high AFP levels can indicate twins.
4 AnswersParenting8 years agoDid you find having boys different from girls and vice/versa?
I have two boys and just found out recently the new baby will be a girl. Even before having children of my own, all my experience was with boys. The only girls I have been around are my nieces and they are waaaay different than any kid I have ever been around. I'm not sure if it's because of them being girls or their parenting. So are boys and girls really that different? I was really excited when I found out it was a girl but now I'm getting nervous because I have no idea what to do with girls.
6 AnswersParenting8 years agoWeird shadow or extra baby?
I went for an ultrasound this morning and the nurse that did it said she might see something to the side, either a weird shadow or a second baby. Has anyone had this happen before and which did it turn out to be? She said she wasn't sure and I would have to wait until my next ultrasound so the doctor could do it and he wasn't in today.

1 AnswerNewborn & Baby8 years agoHave any of you had your child skip a grade?
I still have a year to decide, and depending on how my son is doing by then, I am considering having him tested to skip kindergarten. He just turned 4 a week ago and is breezing through kindergarten level workbooks. After another year, I really feel kindergarten will be pointless and boring for him. Have any of you done this? How did it work out for your child? Do you feel they did fine skipping kindergarten or do you think maybe kindergarten would have been better for them?
9 AnswersParenting8 years agoHave you ever received good advice from a random stranger?
I usually hear bad stories about bad advice from strangers, but have you ever heard good advice? This wasn't exactly advice but a few weeks ago I was talking to a lady at the post office about children. She said she had 3 boys (all grown now) and she hoped for a girl each time. Then she said "God must have know what I needed when he gave me 3 boys and no girls." That statement just really stood out to me because I have 2 boys and I'm more of a tomboy. My sister has 2 girls and she is super grossed out by bugs and frogs (things I am constantly catching for my boys). To me it was just a really sweet thought, especially for anyone with gender disappointment. Have you ever gotten good advice or something from a random stranger?
3 AnswersParenting8 years agowhat are some high calorie snacks/meals I can eat?
I am 18 weeks pregnant now and I am still down 3 lbs from the weight I started at for this pregnancy. I have had very bad morning sickness the whole time and haven't been able to eat. Now that I sometimes feel like I can eat, I get full after like 2-3 bites. I have added up my calories a few different days and I'm only averaging 1000-1500max calories. What are some healthy, high calorie meals/snacks I could eat?
1 AnswerPregnancy8 years agoIf you were babysitting and the parent left you with rules?
that you felt/knew were wrong, would you follow them anyway? Things such as putting a newborn to sleep on its tummy, putting cereal in the bottle, putting a 10 month old forward facing, or any thing else.
8 AnswersParenting8 years agoA few questions for parents of autistic children?
My niece has been having some problems and my sister is worried about autism. She is having her hearing evaluated in 2 weeks, and will be fully evaluated sometime in June. I'm just curious when your child was diagnosed with Autism? What were some symptoms that made you look into this for your child? My niece is 28 months old and only uses about 5 words. She seems to be terrified of people. She will scream, stomp her feet, and throw herself on the ground if other children go near her. She in no way indicates that she wants things, such as you just have to ask her if she wants her cup. Thanks for any answers!
1 AnswerParenting8 years agoIs preschool really worth it?
I still have another year to make the decision, but I'm wondering what are the pros and cons of preschool? I don't know much about what preschools do because I don't know anyone who has ever been to one or put their kids in one. My son knows most of what I hear they teach. He is also at home with either me or my husband. On the other hand, I don't want him to go to school and not be accustomed to a class setting at all.
15 AnswersParenting9 years agoHoney glazed carrots? yay or nay?
I would like some honey glazed carrots with dinner. My baby is 9 months old. Can he have any?
They are canned. Morning Glory brand if that matters at all. Yea, yea, I know fresh is better, but we all cheat sometimes.
4 AnswersParenting9 years agoWhere to draw the line between accepting your body/obesity?
I have always wondered where do you draw the line between "Love your body" and health concerns. I understand loving who you are and accepting your body, but it seems like with obesity on the rise it might be a bad idea. Do you think Kelly Clarkson and Adele's recent statements about being big could actually be bad for girls/women? It seems like a bad idea to tell people "Love that you are fat" when obesity is actually a health problem.
14 AnswersParenting9 years agoWhat to do about my husband's dad?
*My husband also has a step dad and he is the one I consider my FIL.
My husband's dad is either really rude or dumb. He comes to visit about once a year. 2 of those times was for the birth of my children. Both times he tried to take my husband away while we were at the hospital. Then he got mad at my husband and said it wasn't fair that they couldn't spend time together. Last time he was here he did not even contact me. I literally have not heard from him in 9 months. Now, I just see that he got married today. (he posted it on facebook). This is the 2nd or third time he's been married now and I've only known him for 3 1/2 years. I no longer wish to have anything to do with him. Is it wrong of me to cut him out of my life? I don't want him around my children but my husband doesn't think that's fair. I also don't think it's fair to change "grandma" every year.
5 AnswersParenting9 years ago8 month old wanting to nurse in weird positions?
Instead of laying in the cradle position like he has since day one, he now wants to sit up, lay on his stomach, or lay on top of me. These are all uncomfortable to me and he almost suffocates himself. Is this normal? I don't know anyone to ask in person because I don't know anyone who has breastfed past 6 months. Also, will he quit doing this eventually?
3 AnswersNewborn & Baby9 years agoHow do you find time to exercise with kids?
and what do you do? I've never really liked exercise, but I really need to lose some weight. I just can't seem to find time to exercise. Also, any good exercises for large chested women? I like zumba and jogging is ok, but it kills my boobs. I've tried everything except duct tape and they still go everywhere.
11 AnswersParenting9 years agoWas there anything you did different from kid to kid?
I have been doing quite a few things different with my second child. I have breastfed much longer, co-sleeping longer, and I've been making my own baby food. My first also taught me that messes will be made no matter what. I didn't let him feed himself until he was over a year old (I mean with a spoon, not finger foods). My second (7 months old) can pretty much feed himself. I just have to get the food on the spoon for him. What have you done different from child to child?
6 AnswersParenting9 years agoI need a recipe with these ingredients?
I have creole flavored navy beans, carrots, and chicken. What can I make with these?
*I ask in parenting because I know you all have such great dinner ideas!
