  • Customer sexual harassment & employer responsibility?

My friend is being sexually harassed at work by a customer.

He shows up at least weekly looking for her and requesting her to help him. She is the only person on her shift who does her job, so there is nobody else who can help him with what he asks for. He constantly asks her out, touches her inappropriately, speaks shockingly obscenely to her, waits around for her outside of work after her shift, etc. She literally hides when he comes in but he won't leave, so her choice is to deal with him or not do her job at all.

There is absolutely no question his behavior is harassment. Her employer is fully aware of it but they have done nothing about it. Her co-workers try to cover for her as much as they can - they try to help him so she doesn't have to, they try to cover her work as much as they can when she's hiding, etc. But he's fully allowed by management to come in as much as he wants and act however he wants. This has been going on for over a year.

She is not being harassed by an employee, but by a customer. It seems to me that this is still illegal, as her employer is forcing her to work in a clearly hostile environment, regardless of the person doing it to her. Isn't it the employer's responsibility to prevent this? Shouldn't they ban this guy from coming into their place of business - or something, whatever it takes to stop this?

Unfortunately my friend doesn't report this to a higher authority because she is afraid that it'll provoke him to do something even worse. She thinks that if she waits it out he'll eventually lose interest & give up, but it's been going on a long time with no sign of stopping

  • FedEx delivery to wrong address?

I ordered a gift card online, to be delivered to me by FedEx. The package delivery required a signature. Yesterday I was not home when they attempted to deliver it, and they left a slip on my door that I signed to authorize them to leave the package at my door. Today I received an email that the package was delivered, and their package tracking said the same thing, but the package was not here and the slip I signed was still on my door. I called FedEx and was told that their package tracing indicated that it was mistakenly delivered to a completely different address and someone signed for it. They said they would contact the driver to get it straightened out, and that they'd call me back, but it's been 7 hours and I've heard nothing. So now some stranger has my gift card, and is probably enjoying a really nice free meal, thanks to FedEx. Is there anything I can do about this? Should FedEx reimburse me for the gift card? Am I just out of luck? How do I handle this?

Thanks in advance for your help!
