  • Grand Canyon Horse Rides?

I am looking to go on a ride with my boyfriend thru the Grand Canyon. Only problem is that he is a built 6'5" 280lb guy. I noticed that most of the rides have a weight limit of 230lbs. Anybody know of rides that allow heavier riders?

  • Husband and I are seperating for a few weeks, what are the boundries?

My husband and I need to get away from each other just for a little while since I am questioning my happiness with him. I will be moving into my moms house for a few weeks. What are the rules generally for a seperation? Are you aloud to meet new "people"? I just want to know the boundries and definition of the seperation. If we are aloud to see other people, what are those other people going to think of the fact we are married? I've never been in this situation before, any help is great. Thanks

  • Can anybody tell me more about being a flight attendant?

I am 23 years old and I'm married, no kids, just lots of pets and 2 horses. But i'm interested in being a flight attendant. Could somebody tell me more about this type of work? How long are you gone for? How does it compare to other jobs? How many days out of the week do you travel? Whats the average pay? Schooling needed? Do you really have to be a specific height? ( i read that you have to be tall enough to reach the overhead compartments, i'm 5'2"). Any infomation is great, thanks :)

  • Poor Fitting Saddle? Pics?

I posted yesterday about this saddle I had on my horse. It's a saddle that I was told fit my horse perfect. Its a western saddle. I have ridden English my whole life so little do I know about Western Saddle Fit. Well anyway, yesterday I noticed he has white on his back in the shape of a saddle tree. I do have an english saddle but I can't imagine it has been this saddle causing troubles considering the previous owners used the same saddle (and they are very picky about sizing). The odd thing is I've only ridden him in this western saddle maybe 5 times, longest amount of time was for 3 hours at a gaming show. No I do not plan on using that saddle on him again. I have some pics below, i suppose i'm wondering if this could of happens after 5 rides in a saddle?

(Its sorta hard to see, he's really dirty, just rolled right after I turned them ou)

  • White Hairs From Poor Fitting Saddle?

I bought a western saddle that I thought fit good. But today I noticed that there are actually faint white marks on his back in the shape of a saddes tree (not just little white marks, but a full shape of a tree). The thing is, i've only had this saddle on the horse about 3 times, at the longest, 2 hours. Can this happen from just a few rides? I have a english saddle too but I bought this with the horse and its fit just fine. Any idea?

  • What Could Be Wrong With My Horse?

My horse has got me stumped. He is an 11 year old Fjord Gelding. He is very sensitive and sweet natured. He loves his treats and grain, hay is in his opinion "eh okay". Yesterdy I got a call from the barn owner telling me my horse was laying down and not jumping up like usual when he see's people. He would eventually get up when you told him to. I took him, lunged him a little and there was no sign of lameness. All 4 feet were hot at first and then I came back 3 hours later and it was just the two fronts. He had no appetite for hay, only grain and his treats. Today, he wasn't obbessed with laying down, he was nibbling at his food (ate grass at turnout), pooped/peed, ate some bran mash (slowly), feet were no longer hot and not bloated. I gave him a handful of alfalfa mix hay and he ate it happily, I put some in his stall and he ate it, but about 30 minutes later went back to standing in the middle of his stall. When I came back to him to say hello, he started eating again. Once again theres no lameness, no heat in the feet.. just not too excited about eating/drinking, cantering on the lunge line (trotted fine), he's apooping/gassy/pees and just seems a little depressed. One thing I havent done is taken his temp, I had to go buy one and will take it tonight. Any idea what could be the problem? I've already though about colic and laminitis but the signs dont make sense. Please be nice to me, i'm just curious if anybody else has seent his before.

  • How can connect my old video camera to the tv to the dvd /vhs to record off the video camera onto VHS?

I just recently found some old tapes from years ago on my 8mm Cannon video camera (its about 13 years old), and i'm able to play the video on the TV but not sure how to record the footage onto VHS. My dvd/vhs player on has the record option for VHS, not DVD. I tried hooking up all the different red/yellow/white cables but I still done understand how to hook all three up. Am i missing a wire? Is there supposed to be another cable to hook up besides the three colors?

    Any help is great thanks

  • What type of training is this?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJpb0ppxWKE&feature...

This is so neat, any idea what type of training this is? And how I could teach my horse to have this type of connection with me? He already is clicker trained and knows how to do all sorts of tricks including "says yes/no, bows, stands on a stool and smiles". He is so spooky at times about dumb things so i'm trying to work on establishing better connection with him. Thanks

  • Swollen Hock, lameness and not willing to bear much weight on the leg?

My Fjord gelding has a swollen/hot right hock. He is not willing to bear weight on it if you lift his left front leg. The rest of the leg feels totally fine, just the hock area has two big puffy swollen areas. I noticed him try to kick out a couple times after I cold hosed it, not sure what that was about. I bought him 4 months ago and noticed that one of his joints in the hind clicks when he walks, I cant figure out for the life of me which one it is. So i'm worried that it could be his hock clicking and now the swelling has something to do with it. He is turned out daily with his buddy, but has been kept in a stall for the past couple days prior because the electric fence was out. Any ideas what could be the problem? I'm so worried and so fustrated. I have tried to contact the vet tonight but she's closed. I did ask her before about the clicking and she said not to be concerned. Thanks

  • Whats the best type of pad for use for my horse?

I'm curious what the best type of saddle pad would be for my horse. He has no wither and a short back. He fits a 30" pad best. Out of these pads, which would be a better fit for a no wither short backed horse?

http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc155/ljtrowern... <-- this is a picture of my horse and the new saddle I just bought for him, he's wearing a friends saddle pad. Its a thick felt type pad with air holes at the top. Is this pad too thin for barrel racing? We are just learning to barrel race.

http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc155/ljtrowern... <-- here is a picture of his back

Which of these pads would you recommend?

  • Which size saddle pad would be better?

I have a fjord pony with no wither and a short back. Regular sized western saddle pads sit over his mane and stick out onto his butt. Pony sized pads are barely visable under my saddle. Any suggestions? Is it better to be too big or too small? We are learning to barrel race so do I want a thicker pad or something thinner? The thiner pads tend to fit better because they contour to his back and are more fitting. Thanks

  • How Do I Teach My Horse To Slow His Canter,Bend Better At The Canter and Keep Him Collected?

I'm trying to get my Fjord pony to slow down his canter and bend better. Right now, when i canter him around the arena he has a hard time taking a left bend and will almost run right into the wall or break his canter before turning. When he canters, theres no bend in his body around corners, he moves straight all the time. I attach a few videos of him:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36kprlVyop8 (this video i'm teaching him barrel racing)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TO5o136xj_Q (this was 1 month after buying him- he had no idea what collection was, he's very slowing starting to collect his head now)

I'd like to teach him how to barrel race but not sure how to first get him to canter in smaller circles. He's a speed demon! When I got him 3 months ago he wasn't ridden very often for about 2 or 3 years. He could barely canter. Any advice is great thanks.
