  • Best gift for a drummer (choose one!)?

Asked once but am hoping for more answers:

Friend is a college-age semipro percussionist that works with drumline, drumset, hand percussion, mallets, the works.

Three Christmas gifts I can't choose between:

    Zildjian Cymbal Clock

    http://store.drumbum.com/skuC-10.html

Unique clock made from a Zildjian cymbal - only problem is I'm not sure about his opinion on Zildjian (I know some drummers don't like the brand!)

    Meinl African Talking Drum

    http://www.steveweissmusic.com/product/m%E2%80%A6

Fun and somewhat rare drum to play - downside is that he may not have a good place to play this other than playing around with it at home or in a drum circle.

    Hugh Tracey Kalimba

    http://www.steveweissmusic.com/product/3%E2%80%A6

I know his first choice of new instrument would be a marimba (though I could never afford one at several thousand dollars!), so I thought this might be a cheaper keyboard alternative. Downside is that being a "thumb" instrument, it isn't very similar to any other percussion instrument he plays and it would DEFINITELY be an instrument he could only play at home for fun.

Which would you most appreciate as a gift?

  • Does my ferret shedding mean he's sick?!!?

We have 2 male ferrets - a little over a year old.

Over the past week, we've noticed they are a little more lethargic than normal.

Yesterday, we noticed that the slightly fat one seems more skinny and the normally skinny one is starting to shed a TON - mostly off his back.

We recently got a puppy who likes to play rough with the ferrets and, although he hasn't hurt them, we thought he might be stressing them out?

Also, our apartment turned on the heat for the winter so we thought that maybe the shedding is happening because the ferrets' biological clock thinks it's spring?

We've looked around and seen explanations from adrenal disease to hormone imbalance.

Has anyone seen anything like this in their ferrets?

    Help!!!

  • Organ donors: would you let someone eat your body to keep from starving?

I'm in an argument with a friend: If I had died in a severe situation, I would be ok with survivors eating me to survive. He, although an organ donor, doesn't think that that is ok. I kind of think they're the same thing - you're donating your body for other people to live. What do you think?

  • Ideas for him to say yes?

My boyfriend and I were together for 2 years through high school and college. Next came a year of real confusion about taking a break/being worth it, blah blah blah. Last year, we weren't together at all. Finally, I asked for another chance this summer. He was home for 10 days and a lot of it was really good but it got kind of weird cause I was dealing with some issues and I wasn't completely prepared for making an impression.

He's coming home for another 10 days before he goes back to college for a few months and we won't see each other again (unless things ARE working out and we make plans specifically). I want to be together and he says he wants to too but because of the distance and our flip-flop past, he's not sure if it will work.

What could I do in these 10 days to convince him that it is worth another year of long-distance?

PS. I'm not made of money and going on a trip would have to be limited to Northern California and up to 3 days, probably.

  • What are some great Bollywood/Indian movies?

I really like the Bollywood musical genre, but am only really familiar with Lagaan (LOVE that movie!)

Does anyone have any suggestions for other similar movies I should look for?

    Don't say "Bride & Prejudice"!

  • How can I webcam besides using AIM or MSN Messenging?

I have a friend who's studying abroad and I would like to webcam with him. We used to be able to use MSN messenger, but his school computers don't have the newest version and it's not syncing up. Also, AIM is not allowing me to send him my video. He doesn't have a webcam, so I'm basically trying to find a way (that preferably doesn't involve him downloading a program) that he can get my webcam feed. Is there a website that can do this? Or something that is very simple and doesn't need MSN messenger or AIM to run?
