  • Can I use cement board as a subfloor instead of plywood?

We have an older house (1957) that has 1" thick beams as a substrate floor. Currently, there is 1/2 plywood on top of the substrate floor. We are going to rip this up so that we can apply mortar to the substrate for leveling purposes. We would put the porcelain tile directly on top of the cement board.

The guy at Home Depot (a former contractor) said we can just use 1/2" cement board directly on top of the substrate floor without a layer of plywood underneath. The substrate is old, but sturdy real-wood diagonal beams that lay on top of the joists. He said they are plenty strong and we don't really need to add a plywood subfloor if we use 1/2" thick cement board.

What do you think? Do you think we could get away will laying down cement board on top of the substrate floor without plywood for added strength?

    Thanks!

  • What fabric is sheer, stretchy, soft and luxurious? For lingerie...?

I need to figure out what kind of fabric to order. It needs to be sheer, stretchy, soft and luxurious. Kinda like the kind you would use for lingerie or a sheer body suit. Nothing scratchy. Like pantyhose but not so delicate.

    Any suggestions?

  • Myspace background layering?

I would like to layer two background images in the body of my Myspace page, but I don't know how.

The first image I want to be in the background is a muted "texture layer." Basically a small square of a texture pattern, this design should tile both horizontally and vertically and it should not scroll with the page. The second image I would like is a small, decorative graphic, which would be on top of the texture layer. I do not want it to repeat and I want it to remain static on the center, left-hand side of the page.

How do I get these two background images to layer in Myspace. I'm familiar with HTML and CSS, but can't figure it out.

    Thanks!

  • What kind of allergy medicine can I give my dog besides benadryl?

My dog has really base inhaled allergies and is getting hot spots everywhere. My doctor said to give him two 25mg tablets of benadryl twice a day. This is not helping and I was wondering what other allergies medicines can I give my dog (ones that I can buy over-the-counter)?

    Thanks!

  • In terms of car air conditioning: Is the A/C Accumulator the same thing as the A/C Reciever-Drier?

I was shopping for a Receiver/Dryer and was confused because of the following web page:

    http://shop.autopartsfair.com/buy.php?make_text=po...

This web page seems to call the Receiver/Dryer also an Acummulator! Am I reading wrong?

    Thanks

  • Is my thawed chicken still safe to cook and eat?

Hi, I left a whole, frozen chicken in the sink to thaw but then forgot about it over night. It first exited the store's freezer at 5:30 p.m. and I "remembered" it in the sink at 12 p.m. the next day. It was frozen solid before and still cold on the bottom the next day. Can I cook it or should I just trash it?
