  • Need a new dog food for our Mastiff?

Our giant Mastiff is 4 years old and always eaten Eagle Pack for large breeds. However the only pet store near us that carried it is closing. So we need to select a new brand. A 40 lb bag of Eagle Pack cost around $40. And we unfortunately cannot spend more than that so several of the high priced organic brands are not an option. Please recommend a brand that isn't too expensive and easily found at national stores. Thanks!!

  • Visiting a friend in jail ... Are pictures of what he missed a bad idea?

We have friend who is in jail awaiting his trial. He has been there since February of 2012. My husband and I are going to visit him next weekend for the first time since his arrest. Prior to his arrest, he was a close friend of ours who visited our family often, including hanging out & playing with our kids. We included him in Christmas & other holidays with our family, etc.

That being said: When we visit should we bring pictures of our family & the things that we have done over the last 10 months? We don't want to be insensitive. He hasn't had a lot of visitors since his arrest. And he has missed out on a lot of milestones in our lives. We assume that he will ask about our lives & our kids when we visit. Our children are young and have changed tremendously since his arrest. But I am concerned that showing him pictures of vacations, holidays & birthdays would be mean (kind of saying "look at what you missed because you messed up").

Any insight or suggestions would be great! And please be nice :-)

  • Which middle name works best?

We are having trouble deciding on a middle name for our second son.

We strongly believe in passing names down the family line but only through middle names. For example, my first son's middle name is Marshell which is my father and my paternal grandfather's middle name.

We have chosen Grayson as his first name.

We are considering the following middle names:

Jasper (my maternal grandfather's middle name)

David (my husband and his father's name)

Zachary (just because we like it . . . it is not a family name).

Please tell me which name you like best and why.

  • Is there a way to know if a movie will be shown on HBO or Cinemax?

I always seem to buy PPV movies that end up airing on HBO or Cinemax. Since I pay for HBO/Cinemax already, I end up paying twice to see a movie. Are there certain production companies, producers, directors, etc. that HBO/Cinemax air regliously?

  • Should my sister change her son's name?

After 2 years, several fertility treatments and $20,000, I became pregnant with my son. At the time I finally became pregnant, my sister decided to adopt. Just three days after I gave birth to my son, my sister got good news that she would be getting two boys within a few weeks. I was told that I would never be able to have another baby.

From the beginning, we knew what we wanted to name our son Donovan. We signed the birth certificate and everything became official.

Two days later my sister tells me that one of her soon-to-be-adopted son's name was also Donovan. He is only 3 years old. They were also adopting his younger brother whose name was Devaughan. They decided to change the younger boy's name to Devin but they are not changing the older boy's name.

I am very upset about this. When you adopt a child, he gets a new birth certificate so why not change his name. But they refuse.

    Wouldn't you be upset?

  • Endometriosis and next pregnancy?

I have had severe and agressive endo for over 10 years. My husband and I had to complete IVF to get pregnant with our son. Now that he is here, I am not having any endo pain. I have opted not to go back on the pill for numerous reasons but not to get pregnant again, at least not right away.

Has anyone ever had severe endo and difficulty getting pregnant the first time then no trouble the second time?

  • Has anyone ever tried acupuncture for morning sickness?

I have had severe morning (all day) sickness every day for the last 6 weeks. I have trouble eating anything at all and get really bad 'dry heaves' in the morning. I have tried the ginger candies, saltines, eating before getting out of bed, acupressure bands and nothing has worked. Is acupuncture safe during pregnancy? Did it work for you? I am 10 weeks along.

  • How can I get my husband to stop using credit cards?

Before I got married, I NEVER used my credit cards. I had them strictly for emergencies only. My husband has always used credit cards to buy everything. He has never been good with budgets. He uses his cards for gas, food, clothes, car repairs, everything. If we are running low on cash at the end of the pay period and want to go to a movie or dinner, his solution is to put it on the card. My solution is to not go. I have tried to explain that this is hurting us financially. I have showed him the bills, the miniumum payment due, our monthly budget. Nothing seems to work. I can't cut up his cards or take them away from him. Any suggestions???

  • Pregnant by IVF. How do I calculate how far along I am?

I just found out yesterday that I am pregnant with my first child. We got pregnant through In Vitro Fertilization. I am currently taking my progestrone shots. My doctor told me that I have to take them until I am 8 weeks along. I don't go back to the doctor until November 8th. I have checked out a few websites and can't find this answer. Some websites say that I should calculate how far along I am from the date that the embryos were implanted into my uterus. Other websites day that I should calculate from the date of the retrieval of the eggs. And other websites say that I should calculate from the first day of my last period. Has anyone who has gotten pregnant through IVF know this answer? The shots are uncomfortable and painful and I can't wait for them to be over.
