I am a registed voter in Kansas with a declared party. If I switch to Independent, can I vote in the primary? I haven't been able to find a definite answer. Are Kansas primaries open?

My wife is 5 days late. She took a HPT on day 3 and it was negative but I am not convinced. We had protected sex twice since her last period...the first time about 2 days after and then about a week before she was expecting to start. In theory, she should have been ovulating the week inbetween when we were not active. We have never had a condom break on us and as far as we could tell it did not leak, but I guess you never know. We are normally very careful. She has been stressed with work and, of course, in the last week or so when she thought she might be pregant so that may be adding to it as well. She said she has also been tired at night, but that is pretty normal since we have a 1-year old that we chase constantly. The last few days she said she has felt like she could start any time, but just hasn't. I am really hoping that this is all stress related because we are not prepared for another child right now. Any advice is appreciated.
