  • 2006 Ford Mustang or 2005 Honda Accord?

I m currently trying to decide between two used cars to buy. Both are roughly ~$5000. The Ford Mustang has about 105,000 miles and the Accord has 165,000 miles. Both stick shift and in proper working condition. Which would be costlier/more difficult to maintain over the next 1-3 years? Please don t include/add your preferences, I m trying to decide between these two and these two only.

    Thanks!

  • What should I know about the electric utility industry?

I would like to gain a bit of practical knowledge about the power industry to help me prepare for an up-coming entry-level position as an electrical engineer.

What would be some good things to know to prepare? I have looked through past notes from my power courses I've taken in college, but since this is a job interview and no a class exam I expect there'd be more practical questions pertaining to the power industry. I've tried looking for things online but I don't quite know what to look for. Is there anyone with relevant work experience that can give me a basic idea or point me to more specific information source?

Unfortunately I do not have work experience in that area, I just find the courses I took very interesting.

  • Typical weight of an RC truck?

    Hello all,

I would like to get an idea of the typical weight of an RC truck as well as how heavy a load it could tow/carry? I'd like to know because I need to get an idea how great the load of the truck must be to have its motor operating at maximum efficency (meaning full load). This is for a project I'm doing, any info or even a nudge in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You!

  • Can my battery pack provide power for this motor?

I just made a 7.2V 6-cell NiMH battery back with a 2300mAh rating. Will it be enough to power this motor of an RC car? (I will link the datasheet). At maximum efficency it draws 13A at a nominal 7.2V. How will the battery pack be able to deliver this current when it's current rating is well below that? I have tried reading various articles and reading through motor datasheets, but I cannot understand how it works.

  • Interested in working in energy industry?

Hello all, I will be graduating in December with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. I made up my mind a while back to go into the power/energy industry, and recently I have become really fascinated with the renewable energy industry in particular. I've been luck enough to be involved in a couple of renewable energy projects (solar energy) in my time here but I know it's a small sample size. Could anyone let me know what the job prospects are like in this particular sector as well as industrial and professional growth opportunities? If not could someone direct me to where I can read and learn more about it? Thanks!

  • Copper Tape Question?

    Here's why I ask:

I have two separate circuits- one is a solar-powered battery charger and the other is the positive and negative terminals of the battery of an rc vehicle. I want to make a docking station for the vehicle where two pairs of the wires ( positive/negative from charger and positive/negative from battery) can come in contact with one another so that charging automatically commences.

Please I do not need advice or answers questioning how I plan to do this because I have already designed the circuitry that will control this. What I would greatly appreciate is if I can attach copper tape to the ends of pairs of wires, so that the moment positive copper tape touches positive and negative touches negative, it will in a sense "close the circuit" so that charging will begin. Can I use copper tape to do this?

  • Copper Foil Tape Question?

If I attached copper tape at the end of two conducting wires from a separate circuit and put the two pieces of copper tape in contact with one another would that "close" the circuit, or does copper tape not work like that? And if not where can I get something that would do that?

  • Choosing solar panel to charge AA batteries?

    Here are the details:

    Battery- (NiMH, 1.2V, 2300mAh).

Is it imperative that my solar panel is rated to output the same if not more power than the AA battery delivers? (that would be 1.2V*2300mAh = 2.76Wh) or can it be rated for less?

  • Looking top buy thin film solar panels, can't find?

    Good day all,

I am currently looking to purchase a thin film solar panel (~30W, and ~9V) of a reasonable price, but I can't seem to find any when I search. Are there no such panels being manufactured or am I just looking in the wrong place?

  • Battery charger and battery circuit?

When I hook up a battery charger to a battery, can it be modeled as two constant voltage sources in series, with current flowing from the charger to the battery? (meaning power is being delivered to the battery). In the case that the battery is fully charged, what happens?

    SPDT Relay question?

    Good day all,

I have constructed a circuit using an SPDT relay that controls whether an AA battery will be dissipating power to a load (resistor) or being charged by a simple AA battery charger. I am using two LEDS to help me confirm proper functionality of the circuit (Red LED for power dissipation, blue LED for charging) The red LED is connected to the NC pin, so it comes on when there is no voltage across the coil.On the other hand by blue LED never turns on even after I've applied coil voltage. I have the positive terminal of the charger hooked up to the blue LED which is then connected to the NO pin of the relay and positive terminal of the battery is connected to the COM pin of the relay. The charger and battery have the same ground.

I also have a picture attached. I apologize for the poor quality. Please help!

  • Breadboard Circuit Experiment?

    Good day all,

I'm trying to implement a simple circuit that consists of an AA battery charger, one AA battery, a resistor, and a toggle switch. What I want is to control whether the power is being dissipated from the battery to the load (resistor) or the battery is being charged with the charger with the aid of the toggle switch. I asked a previous question on how to hook up a battery charger to a breadboard (which is where I want to carry out this experiment) but I was told it actually may not be possible. If this is indeed true, are there any other alternatives?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thank you!

  • Hooking up an AA battery charger to a breadboard?

    Good day all,

I am trying to perform a little circuit experiment. I have an AA battery and a AA battery charger. I'm not going to go into the details of what my circuit will be doing, but I just have one question I would greatly appreciate if anyone could help me answer: How do I break apart the charger so I can hook it up to my breadboard?? Please help!!
