I find sometimes when I try to use a web site it gets bogged down by references to third party services like twitter and facebook. The web page just hangs and you see the reference to the 3rd party site in the status bar. For example, here is typical page content from Time magazine:

This script reference hangs the Time magazine page if platform.twitter.com does not respond immediately or is bogged down (which it usually is).

I know how to block a web site in Firefox, but is there any way to tell Firefox to block ALL such third party scripts and references? I don't want to have to manually type in a block for every possible 3rd party reference, I want to block them all.

I am having a problem changing my display name in Yahoo Answers. I go to the "Edit My Preferences: About You" screen. I click the "Change Name" button. I enter my desired name in the box and click "Save". The new name then appears in the "Edit My Preferences" screen. I then click the "Submit" button. A new screen appears that says, "Profile Updated", but the display name is still the old one. Don't tell me the server takes time to update it. I have been trying to do this repeatedly for 2 weeks and it still does not change.

Last year I looked up an old article on Time Magazine and ever since then the article has mysteriously appeared on the "Most Popular" sidebar on the front page of the magazine when I visit even though I store no cookies for Time and do not allow 3rd party cookies.

Is Time using IP addresses to track people and keep a record of what articles they are reading?

I am thinking about buying a sedan. I am looking for the following features:

- good quality construction

- sporty / V6

- can put the seat down and load from the back 10' long items

- pre-emission controls if possible, ie, an old car

I currently have a 1992 Passat GL which I like pretty well, but it has the following problems:

- its starting to rust

- it has automatic seat belts

- it is 4 cylinder so it does not have good acceleration

I have found that for the cost to have the car repainted I could buy an old 6-cylinder with no body rust which is why I am looking.

As far as I can see my main options are another Passat or an Audi but I am open to new ideas.

There are a lot of "year" issues. For example, since I got a '92 I got the automatic seat belts which suck. Also, I know if you get a 94+ passat there was a redesign and some improvements so it might be a lot better.

I don't know too much about Audis but I know they are supposed to be well built which is key.
