Did I fracture a metacarpal?
About 3-4 weeks ago my daughter hit my hand direct and really hard with a metal toy car. She hit is right in the middle of my index metacarpal. It hurt sooo bad right then and I felt a little knot right after she did it. I figured it was a busted blood vessel or something, so I didn't pay much attention to it. No discoloration or swelling and I pretty much have full use of it. However, even today, when I rub of (with gentle pressure) that metacarpal, it is still VERY tender. You can also feel that little knot still. I'm really not sure what it is and I don't want to go sit in an office and pay for an x-ray if it's not broken. Especially since I have full use of this hand. But, I have read online that if it IS broken, it is very important with how the hand heals. IDK. Any suggestions? I have given is almost a month and it still feels the same. Not terrible, but there is definitely something going on. If she had bruised a tendon or something, would it still be tender after a month or do you think it is fractured? Thanks for any advice or suggestions!
