  • Training your cat?

I have a younger cat about 6 months old. We had her spayed and she got an infection at the surgery site so we had to put her on an antibiotic. When we first started giving her the antibiotic it was a fight, but I made it a point to give her kitty treats regardless of the objection she put up taking the meds. Now, I can feed her the meds cuddling her like a baby in my arms, and she takes it much more calmly. After which I still give her treats.

How many other "cat trainers" (every day people) have had this kind of success? I think its awesome and plan on expanding her "training". Right now its limited to when I call her name she's learning to respond to me and the after medicine treats to encourage cooperation.

  • Are you raising a NON-conventional teen?

I am. And he's a definite challenge. He makes good grades, is active in the marching band, and here comes the "but" he excels at some poor choices. Just an example of a poor choice (this is only one of a zillion) -- asked him to not open the kitchen door, and gave him the reason why. And in no less than 5 minutes he opened the door! *insert exasperation here* He also struggles with following the golden rule - "Do unto others as you'd have them do for you." -- 1. his mouth often over loads his butt. 2. His actions get him into trouble and then he feigns innocence. (Last I checked I didnt name any child I had "I don't know".) And yes, I know that many teens are like this - however, many of those teens "get it" after a certain point, where as my teen is still having the same struggle. (non-conventional not following the same guidelines everyone else is and getting busted. often.)

I just want to see if anyone else is/was struggling as a parent with their non-conventional teen?

  • Do you remember being 17 and bucking the rules?

How much did you buck the rules and authority at 17? When you got caught and had privileges revoked - did you do it again anyway? If you did break the rule again -- how many more times did you break it before you stopped?

Just for the record - I have a 17 yo son that is "unconventional" and he's constantly bucking authority and breaking basic rules the rest of us understand and follow. And he is at least consistant in that he keeps breaking the SAME ones every time. Seriously, though -- 3 maybe 4 times I can see... but after the 7th or 8th time?! UGH!

  • You work for an agency... and you have things you need adult clients ....?

Say you work for an agency that requires adult clients to take part in different testing and other services. Is it professional to make those appointments for those adults without that adults knowledge or consent, fail to send out accurate notice in a timely manner and expect them to comply without feeling like their basic rights as an adult have not been violated?

  • good source of comfort food recipes book or website...?

I would like to know if anyone has seen a good source of comfort food recipes?

recipe sites i already have looked at are

    recipezaar,

    allrecipes,

    copykat,

    topsecretrecipes,

    foodnetwork,

    homeandgarden,

    yahoo,

    grouprecipes, and

    recipegoldmine.

Foods that I do not care for are - beef livers, cooked/canned/frozen spinach, mustard and pickles... I can use stovetop, crockpot, oven, rotissiere and grill.

(PS - i personally enjoy mustard and pickles, hubby does not. beef liver and cooked spinach generally do not even make it into my basket when shopping.)
