  • why am i so disturbed to hear from this guy from the past, and what should i do?

Hi, I am a 23 year old woman. I am asking this question on here mainly just to get outside, unbiased opinions about my situation. A little over a year ago i met a guy at a community college i was taking some classes at, he is a couple years younger than me. We texted back and forth quite often throughout the semester, we made several attempts to hang out but ultimately we only hung out once at the end of the semester, he came over to my house, and i am embarassed to admit we basically just hooked up, had sex, and that was it. i talked to him like once after and then we never spoke again. I have since gotten a boyfriend and have been in a serious relationship for the past 9 months. Now about a month ago, this guy starts texting me again. The first time he texted and called i was going to ignore him, but after a few texts i decided to answer, i told him i had a boyfriend we just talked a little and that was it. 2 weeks later he texted just "hey whats up" and i didnt answer, now 2 weeks later again today, he texts "hey whats up" again.

For some reason, hearing from him again really bothers me. I dont know this guy well at all, but i dont think hes really a "good kid". Is it best to just ignore him completely? Is that the best way to give him the message that i really am not interested in rekindling our friendship? The times in the past and recent that we have talked he has always been nice, it is not like he has ever been mean or threatening, but for some reason him trying to talk to me just disturbs me. Maybe because the one time we hung out since we had sex he figures i am just easy and he is bored and just looking for sex? I cant imagine why i am suddenly on his mind so much after we barely knew eachother to begin with. Am i just paranoid or something?

I am hoping someone looking at this situation from the outside will just help me see things more clearly.

  • birth control pill- breakthrough bleeding?

I just started taken birth control pills (Loestrin 24 fe) a little less than a month ago. For about the last 5 days I have been having a lot of breakthrough bleeding. It is more that just spotting, it is almost like my period. I should have my period in about a week. I remember my dr. said breakthrough bleeding is a common side effect, but I just dont know if this much is normal, and its a very annoying problem. Anyone with a similar experience with Loestrin 24, or any brand of birth control? Is it normal to have this much break through bleeding? Thanks in advance for any info!

  • What is an American practice that might seem strange to others?

I am taking a cultural psychology class in school, and right now we are looking at practices and rituals that are normal in some cultures, but that others who are not part of that culture find strange or weird (for example were currently studying Amish beliefs and practices, etc.) For an assignment we have to think of a practice or custom from our own culture, which is the American culture, that is common and normal to us, but that others would find strange or weird. Any ideas?

  • should i see a therapist/counselor?

I am a college student. I am really unhappy with the way my life is and I am trying to change things around. I do not really have any friends, and I have a lot of issues (mainly social issues) that I feel i need help dealing with. I really want to talk with someone who can help me get on the right track to changing things. I really need help, because right now I just feel stuck and hopeless.

Would a therapist or counselor be someone I should talk to about this? I have never been in any kind of therapy or counseling before, so I don't know if these are the kind of issues they deal with. My college has a counseling center with psychologists and counselors that are available for free, does that seem like a good place to start? Thanks for any advice.

  • Opinions about colors for tattoos?

I am getting my first tattoo soon, and I have decided on getting a small butterfly on my shoulder. I am not sure yet what color I want it though. I don't really know much about tattoos, so I was wondering your opinion as to wether certain colors look better or last longer over time, etc? Thanks!

  • Career Opportunities with a Degree in TESOL?

I am currently a junior in college, and I am thinking about getting a masters in education in TESOL once I graduate. I want to get the degree that will allow me to teach in public schools, grades K-12. What are the career opportunities like for a teacher with this degree in the United States? I do not want to teach abroad (at least not immediately after I graduate, maybe down the road). Is it difficult to find teaching positions in the US in ESL? I appreciate any info, Thanks!

  • Would this be weird for me to do?

So there is a guy I like who works in a cafe/restaurant. I usually go there no more than once a week, and lately we have been flirting a lot. I'm pretty positive he knows I like him, and I think some of the other employees know too, just because of how we've been flirting and stuff.

Next time I see him I want to try to see if he wants to hang out or something. But, I was in there two days in a row last week and he wasn't in there, I am not entirely sure of his hours. I don't want to come off weird or desperate by going in there too much, espicially since even though he wasn't there, I think the other employees realized. So, if I were to go back on Monday after having been there on Friday, would it be weird? I'm not even sure if he will be there, but If I don't go Monday I am not going to be in town to go until Thursday. What should I do?

  • How often can I go to a store to see a guy I like without it being weird?

There is a guy I like who works at a local cafe, and the last few times I've been there we flirted a lot. I usually go there no more than once a week, and I was there this past Thursday. Is it too soon to go back again tomorrow (Monday)? I don't want to come off weird by going too often. Thanks in advance!

  • Do you think I could teach myself how to play the cello?

I want to learn to place the cello, just for fun. I have played the violin for 16 years (since I was 4), and I want to try something new for fun. I would like to get a teacher, but I don't really have time for lessons right now (i'm in college, so I wouldn't be able to take lessons until summer). My question is since I am familiar with music and string instruments, would I be able to teach myself the cello, or should I hold off until I have time for lessons?

  • What is wrong with my computer?

I have a macbook, it is about 3 years old. For some reason the screen is lightly flickering. It doesn't go all the way black, it just dims a little, but its kind of annoying. I'm pretty sure my computer is still under warrenty with apple, so I could bring it into the store. But it doesn't do it all the time, so I don't know if when I bring it it's going to happen. Is there a way that they can see if there is a problem without it actually happening if it should not do it in the store? Does this sound like a common problem? Thanks!

  • Can Solodyn cause a rash?

I am taking Solodyn for my skin, I have been taking it for about a month, and recently (past 2 days) I have had very itchy skin and a rash that only happens at night, around 10pm. I can't show it to my dr. because when I wake up in the morning its gone. I called my dermatologist and she said it is possible that it could be the solodyn and I had a delayed reaction to it. Do you know of/experienced anything similar to this with Solodyn? I hate to stop using it because I am finally seeing results, but I may have to. I appreciate any info!

  • What is this rash i'm getting?

I think something from my cat is biting me and causing me a rash, I don't know if it is fleas, or something else. This happened to me last night as well, and when I woke up this morning there was no sign of it. When it happened again tonight, after my cat was siting with me again, I assumed it must be something from her. I don't feel anything actually biting me, but I have a very bad itch on my back and my hip. The thing that I don't understand is that I do not see actual bites except for a small little bump that looks kind of like a mosquito bite, but for the most part it just looks like a raised rash, and it is practically covering across my entire back, maybe I am irritating the bites by itching them? The rash looks almost likes when you get imprints from lying on something. I do tend to react to insect bites, even when I get mosquito bites they get big and gross looking. I would go to the doctor, but there is a good chance that when I wake up tomorrow morning, the rash (or whatever it is) will no longer be there. Does anyone have any idea what this might be or what I can do? I really appreciate any information or ideas! (I am a 20 yr. old female if that makes any difference with anything)

  • What are some nice countertop options besides Granite?

We want to update our kitchen, and are looking into the different countertop options. Granite would be our first choice, but I'm afraid its going to be too expensive. We would like to stay away from laminates, and would prefer a natural material. What are some other options that are cheaper than granite but will still give us an updated look?
