Why can't I highlight text intermittently?
So here's the situation, I have a computer with Windows 8.1, an i5, 8GB RAM, and overall a very nice PC. However, it will randomly glitch up and not highlight text with the click and drag of the mouse. I can still double click to highlight a word, and triple click for a sentence. I can even hold shift and press over.
I tried removing the page file and restarting in case the page file was slowing it down as often 5 or 6 GB of RAM are being used so I figured Windows might be using the page file. Although the mouse moved slightly smoother (or it was just my imagination) it had no effect on selecting text.
Weird problem. Can't seem to find a solution when searching for it.
Thanks in advance for any help.
1 AnswerSoftware7 years agoI can't download .exe files on one user. What's the problem?
So I've got a weird issue. I have my computer set up with Aster v7 so I have two mice, two keyboards, and two monitors acting as two separate computers. On my main one I can no longer download .exe files from any source. On the other one they start immediately. Reset IE, updated it, reset security zones, ran the fixit tool, etc.
Also, it happens in every browser. Chrome/IE/Firefox/Opera. Just weird.
Would appreciate any help. Thanks!
2 AnswersSoftware7 years agoIf an employer requires overtime and it is missed, how much time do you have to make up?
So I work for a telemarketing company. I know not many people like us but, hey, it's a job.
We have scheduled hours of 11:30 to 8:00 for our regular shift. Most weeks, we are required to work 10:30 to 8:00. Next week, we have Monday off because our client company doesn't want us to call on MLK day. The rest of the week, the shift is 9:30 to 8:00 Tuesday through Friday. Keep in mind, we get a 30 minute lunch break each day except Saturdays where we work 8:00 to 2:00.
So let's say we're required to work an overtime shift of 10:30 to 8:00, giving us 45 hours throughout the week. Of course we're normally required Saturday at least 8:00 to 2:00, so we'll assume another 6 hours on there for a total of 51 hours. Let's say someone missed four hours on Wednesday for being sick. They got 47 hours, but they are also required to make up four hours within this particular Monday through Saturday. It was unplanned, so they have four hours to make up Thursday and Friday. Saturday you cannot make up hours because you are only there as long as the center is open. Mon-Fri it is open 8:00 to 8:00. The most balanced times this person can work to make up the time is 8:30AM - 8:00 PM Thursday and Friday.
Is all of this really allowed? I know it's not the greatest explanation so if you have questions about the situation just post them and I'll try to answer them. It all just seems a little off.
Just a side note: We were required to work 9:30 to 8:00 every weekday and every Saturday 8:00 to 5:00 for over a month. The same situation for missed hours applied. Either you made them up or ate at your vacation time, which you don't even get till you've been there six months. I'm past my six months, so I have vacation time. But most people don't make it that long. We also have no sick days. Just "Personal Time Off" as they call it. Which we are required to get a reason and approval for.
Terribly long post, but a lot to explain. Thanks to anyone who even read it all! :)
1 AnswerLaw & Legal9 years agoIs my heart rate too high?
Sometimes when I take Diphenhydramine HCL (Benadryl) I notice my heart racing. Sometimes it gets into the 120 range without excercise. I'm a 17 year old male and there's only one heart attack in my blood relation. I'm 5' 11" and ~140lbs/65kg. I don't eat much at all for junk food.
I am aware of my target heart rate exercising and all, but I don't know if that's safe resting.
Is this too fast of a heart rate? How fast is too fast?
1 AnswerOther - General Health Care1 decade agoQuestion about charged particles?
I'm stuck on this for a study guide, and I"m pretty sure it's going to be on the test
Two charged particles repel each other with a force F. If the charge of one of the particles is doubled and the distance between them is also doubled, then the force will be
2F
F/4
F
F/2
I have the formula to figure it out, but I'm quite confused... D:
An explanation would be very nice, too. I want to understand it.

So I have to write a paper for Psychology in APA format. I see all these sections such as Methods, Discussion, etc. However, our paper is a compare + contrast paper about growing up in two different countries (El Salvador and Syria, in my case.) Methods? Discussion? Participants? What do I do here?

I'm just completing my first year at a college at 17 as a PSEO student, but I'd like to go to a different college. Unfortunately it's farther away and I plain don't have the money. Can a PSEO student get grants/scholarships for housing? (Food would be nice to, but that's not necessary.)
I'll be asking our High School's guy in charge of this, but he's a bit of a dunce.
1 AnswerFinancial Aid1 decade agoIs there a real terminal server for windows?
However impractical it is, I want to try.
Is there a way to make another computer (a laptop, if it works well enough) boot off of another computer like a TRUE terminal used to be? As in, the computer on the desk does nothing but send keyboard + mouse commands and receive what to display for the user. Remote Desktop Connection is NOT what I want. It's slow...
The reason: I have a loaded i7, and I want to be able to be in more than one location to use it. Not necessarily for gaming, but that'd be ideal.
1 AnswerSoftware1 decade agoAre these two GTX 260's compatible for SLI?
Alright. They're by different manufacturers, but they're both GTX 260's. I realize that they have to be at the same clock speed, but I'm okay will clocking the second one down a little.

Well, there they are. The first one is the one I'm looking to buy, and the second one is the one I already have. I have room for both and an SLI-compatible board along with a capable 800W power supply.. I'm only worried about compatibility to each other, because I don't know a ton about SLI.
5 AnswersDesktops1 decade agoDo I need a small business lisence to fix computers in my home for a fee?
I wasn't sure whether to try to find a 'legal' section or put it here, but the topic is business. So here goes.
I'm 16 and am very experienced with computers. I'm currently in my first year at college and am very confident in my ability. I've made a few house calls setting up networks and fixing computers packed with viruses. I'd like to put an ad in the paper and make a little money with it. (Foodservice jobs suck! XD)
Do I need a small business license or something? I didn't even think of it until I realized that I could make quite a bit of profit (for a teenager) and that I'll probably have to file taxes or something of the sort.
The bottom line: Do I need a small business license? Keep in mind I'm only 16, so I'm still a minor. I don't know if that makes a difference.
5 AnswersSmall Business1 decade agoSolve this set of HARD equations (this isn't homework)?
Someone gave me a brain teaser about two hours ago. I can't figure it out, and I think my head might explode if I don't have the answer. The equations are:
(s-2.1)(t+32.5) = 0.9
(s+2.1)(t-32.5) = 0.9
If you can find the answer from that, I'm sure it's correct. Here's the actual problem:
"A canoeist rows up and down a stream that has a current of 2.1 mph. If the canoeist takes 65 minutes longer for one trip than the other and the distance of the stream is 0.9 miles, how fast will the canoeist's speed be if the water is still."
I don't know if those equations even turn out to be correct for the problem. Can anyone figure this out?
Note: This really isn't homework. It'll just bug me forever.
2 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoCan I use a PCI-E video card without the extra power chord?
I'm looking at buying this video card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8... That's the Geforce Galaxy GTX 260.
It requires a 2x6 power connector. The power supply I have has no such connector, and I have to upgrade one or the other for now. Can I still use the graphics card without the extra power, and just have it slower, or do I need to upgrade the power supply first.
Note: The power supply has no extra cables to convert to 2x6 power.

1 AnswerDesktops1 decade agoNeed an AM3 Motherboard with 6 slots for DDR3 RAM and SLI. Know of one?
Title says it all. I've decided on the Phenom II x4 3.4ghz black edition. I'm looking for a motherboard with an AM3 socket that has 6x240pin RAM slots. I can't seem to find one. Also, it needs SLI.
This is a lot of features in a board, but I'm willing to spend a few hundred on the board alone.
--
If no one knows of one, could you recommend an AM3 motherboard with at least one of the optional features? I would prefer both, but having either 6x240pin for RAM or SLI would be good.
If I can't find a suitable board, I'm probably going for the Intel i7, even though it's way overpriced.
3 AnswersDesktops1 decade agoAnother Excel 2007 formula - tough one using DCOUNT?
So I have this function to find how many employees get 15 vacation days. So, I'm seeing how many values in a specific column are equal to 15. Here's my function:
=DCOUNT(Leave[#All], "Vacation Leave",W4:W5)
In Cell W4: Vacation Days
In Cell W5: ="=15"
Now, this function works fine. Here's a rough outlook on my table I'm going off of:
____________________________
Name|Vacation Days|Used Days|
........| 10| 2|
........| 15| 3|
........| 0| 0|
........| 5| 1|
Now I need to make a function that adds up the used days of all of the employees starting with 15 days. With the table I've shown that would mean I would have to find the number three from the second employee, and add it with any others that had 15 days to start.
Wow. Am I confused!

1 AnswerAdd-ons1 decade agoWhy won't my flash drive retain anything?
I put files on my flash drive, and they don't work. I only get one set of files at a time. For instance:
1) Format the flash drive.
2) add approx. 15 ~200mb .avi files.
3) Play them for testing, they work.
4) Add ten more, they don't work.
What is going on? More importantly, how do I fix it?
1 AnswerAdd-ons1 decade agoIs it possible to bridge a dial-up connection with a LAN connection?
I have a dial-up connection through bluetooth to my phone. Sitting in my basement, I get up to 160 kb/s download speed. I just ran a decent sized download, and it got around 160 tops. Usually 145 kb/s.
Anyways, I also have a LAN connection. I'm wondering if there's a way to make them work together. From what I've searched for so far, you can't. I really don't care whether or not I have to manually bridge the connections every time. Any suggestion?
1 AnswerComputer Networking1 decade agoWill this processor work in my motherboard?
Pentium D 830 3.20GHz CPU Dual core Processor. Socket 775, which I know is the same as my motherboard. The motherboard supposedly supports dual-core technology and Pentium D. The board model is 0f8101. It's in a Dell Optiplex gx620 SFF computer. I'm only really worried about heat and power. But I need to know it'll work too.
Motherboard - http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx...
Processor -
I noted that the processor takes wattage of a max of 130. Power source is only 275... I also have a (relatively low end) video card in there. Is there enough power available?
For heat, I suppose I'll just buy a heatsink for it?
