My son is in college in Washington, D.C. We come from a climate where it does not snow and are looking for some advice on the best type of footwear to deal with snowy and/or wet weather. For instance, boots or galoshes? What type? He's primarily going to be traveling by foot on the city streets. Thanks for any advice.

He is 8 years old and has extra wide feet, so normal widths are too tight. Any suggestions? The only restriction is that Nike Sharks are not allowed.

I have an 11 year male old beagle and a 7 year old female golden retriever mix (both have been fixed). We're thinking of getting another dog as the older dog is slowing down and just doesn't have the energy to play as much with the younger dog. They both get along great with other dogs and they have a small male neighbor dog friend who come to visit a lot. I wonder if it would be ok to consider a male dog to adopt or should I look only at females. I worry that maybe the older male might feel his "alpha" status was threatened.
