  • Help! My horse needs to gain weight!?

Any ideas on how to get some weight on him? He's an Arabian, 13 years old, no health problems. This whole thing started when I was forced to switch his feed, (the Southern States' feed had gotten infested with gross beetles, every single bag from the place was terribly infested with nests of them). I only had half a bag of the first kind i'd bought, and needed more soon. So over a week I switched him to a type from my local CO-OP, I never went back to the Southern States feed store again. I have his OLD feed (the one I began with) special ordered through my CO-OP, so he's on the origional again, and has been for a month, but he ISN'T gaining the weight back! I need suggestions on how to get it back on!!

  • My Bunny has a sore on his hind foot.. Why is it there? What should I do?

My one year old rabbit, named Kirby, has a sore the size of a pinky nail under his right foot, it's not bleeding, but it's definately not hair loss, it's a raw sore. I have no idea why this is on him, he's running around like normal, so it doesn't seem to hurt terribly much. I don't believe he could have bitten himself, it would be quite difficult. His cage is a transformed walk in closet, (carpeted) so it's soft, so it would be strange if it was a pressure 'bed' sore, he has plenty of room to roam. If you have any tips on how to treat it, or how he might have gotten it, i'd love to know! Thank you.

  • My Arabian Gelding is in the snow, it's only an inch or two, but will he be ok?

I just brought him out of his barn, and it started to snow a little. I don't have a sufficient blanket, only a thin rambo that would make him colder by destroying his natural insulation. His barn isn't connected to his paddock, so he doesn't have open access, and I do not want to put him back in. He has been in the barn for three straight days because it was raining, and sleeting, and he was miserable to be cooped up. There's also a wind chill of about 20 degrees. He does have natural wind breakers of trees, shrubs, and undergrowth along part of his pasture. He also has a large ammount of hay out with him. Will he be alright??
