  • Make your own Moby Wrap?

I found the dimensions for making my own Moby Wrap, and I was just curious to see if anyone else had attempted to make one. If you have, what type of fabric did you use and how wide did you cut the material? I read that Jersey knit is a good option, but I don't want something too stretchy and unsupportive once the baby gets a little heavier.

  • Would you be concerned?

Tomorrow I'll be 34 weeks pregnant, and I also have an appointment with my OB, but today I've been experiencing a very upset stomach, nausea, frequent braxton-hicks, and low back pain. I was hospitalized at 28 weeks for contractions, but they stopped before I had any dilation. I'm probably just thinking too much, but do any of you think these could be signs of preterm labor? I'm not having any bleeding, and I'm still feeling regular movement. Your thoughts?

  • question about a border collie mix?

I have a border collie mix, and she's a wonderful dog with the exception of one behavior. I know that she's a herding breed, and it's hard to fight against that instinct, but she constantly tries to herd me and my son. I'm 8 months pregnant at this point, and it's becoming a bit of a problem. She absolutely loves our son, but he gets irritated with her too. (He's only 3 and doesn't understand why she constantly bobs and weaves in front of him.) Is there a way we can discourage her from constantly trying to herd us? I don't necessarily want to discourage the behavior altogether, I guess I really just want to give her something besides us to try and herd. Any suggestions?

  • Curious about J & J bedtime bath routine...?

Just out of curiosity, do any of you use the Johnson and Johnson's Bedtime bath and massage lotion at bedtime, and if you do, have you noticed it having any impact on your child's sleep? I thought about trying it with our baby girl when she arrives, but didn't know if it was bogus or if there's actually some truth to the claims.

  • Would you consider yourself a book parent?

Do you parent more by what the parenting books and doctors say or do you rely more on common sense, tradition, etc? I think I was more of a book parent with my first, but I think it caused more stress than was necessary, so I plan to do things a little differently with my second. Anyone else feel the same way? I just think some of the "rules" for newborns are getting a little ridiculous....

  • Sling, Mei Tei, or Front Pack?

I'm torn. I had a front pack with my son and hated it, but I think it may have just been the brand. Is Baby Bjorn really worth the extra money? What are your experiences with the three? I'm looking for something I could possibly nurse in and be comfortable in for a long period of time. Anyone have any recommendations??

  • Advice for Boundary Training?

I have two dogs, and I would like to train them to not run in or out of an open door unless given the command to do so. They'll listen if I tell them to stay for a short time, but I've heard that boundary training is the best way to teach them to wait until they are told to enter or exit a door. I just hate having my arms full of groceries and having to wrestle my way through 90 pounds of lab and 25 pounds of border collie to get into my home. Other than this issue, they are both extremely well-behaved and highly trainable. Anyone have any advice about boundary training or know a good resource where I can read up?

  • Will this substitution work?

I want to make gingerbread pancakes, but I don't have all of the spices available to me. I have cinnamon and nutmeg but no ginger or cloves. Do you think I could substitute pumpkin pie spice in place of the normal combination and get a comparable result or would the flavor be too weak? Any suggestions are appreciated!

  • Just for information...?

How many of you have had some sort of bleeding in your pregnancy? It seems that everyone experiences it at some point, and we all freak out and call the doctor just to have them tell us it's common. The books get us all worked up but it seems to be a normal occurrence. I'v experienced it with both my pregnancies...I'm just curious...just a sort of survey I guess. Your thoughts?

  • Help with acne during pregnancy...?

I usually have pretty clear skin, but since you're not allowed to use any of the acne washes with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide, I look like I'm going through puberty again! What cleansers have you guys used that are safe and effective during pregnancy?

  • Filtered aquarium but water is still cloudy?

I have a Betta in a 5 gallon filtered tank. We changed the water about a week ago and it was crystal clear up until yesterday. We feed him just a few pellets at a time a couple of times a day, so there's no left over food hanging out. Is there anything I can treat the water with to clear it up?

  • How can we get Y!A to help us out?

Just curious...anyone know of a way we can petition Yahoo to add an

"Am I Pregnant?" section and an "abortion" section? It seems like these types of questions dominate the section. Anyone ever asked for a new section to be added?

  • Question about Frontline?

I applied Frontlne today, and my dog has managed to get absolutely filthy since then. Do any of you remember off-hand how many days I need to wait before bathing her? I misplaced the information packet that comes with it. Thanks!

  • Rules about starting solid food?

Does anyone else feel like it's a bit ridiculous to wait until a baby is six months old to introduce solid food? My pediatrician had us start our first on cereal and yellow vegetables at 4 months, and I fully intend to do the same with this baby. Why is everyone so staunch about this new six month rule?

  • Anyone else have this issue?

The OBGYN I used for my first child left our area, so I decided to use the attending who delivered my child because I had at least had some sort of interaction with him. I'm 16 weeks pregnant and have been to several prenatal appointments, and each time I go, I find myself less comfortable with this doctor. I have some other medical issues so I'm concerned about changing doctors in the middle of my pregnancy. Should I just have an open discussion with him about my concerns or should I just switch altogether? My insurance limits my choices, so I don't know which option is better. Anyone else had to make this choice?

  • For moms who use sling carriers...?

I want to purchase a sling carrier, but there are so many different types and brands out there! I would love one that I could use to nurse as well as just being a comfy carrier. Does anyone have any recommendations?

  • Has anyone used Adams spot-on?

We normally use Frontline, but some of the articles I've read say that Adams can be just as effective for a much lower price. We treat our yard, and the dogs are currently flea-free. Does anyone use this product on their dog and has your experience been with it been positive?
