  • Can I use ms access database in c++ program?

I want to write a c++ program that would require a database to read from for things like inventory and/or contacts, could I use an ms access database and have the program read the data from that, or would I have to code the database from scratch too? I thought having an external file to read from would make the job easier.

  • What does each pin on an audio jack do,?

I’m not sure if I’m asking this correctly. But I’m learning how to make circuits, and wanted to include an audio jack like the kind on MP3 players, can anyone tell me what the 3 pins on the bottom do and if I were to wire it to a breadboard which pin would go where? Since my Bluetooth isn’t working lately i was thinking of making a transmitter for my car radio so the jack would be input from the mp3.

  • how do wireless transmissions get translated into the correct form?

i've been learning about frequencies and radio waves, and one question kinda stuck out, so, say a video camera sends its feed to a wirless receiver and that sends the picture to the screen, if something say like an e-mail or text message happened to of been sent over the same frequency how does the receiver know that its not a video feed and print it to the video screen by accident does the device look for a specific type of data when the transmission comes in? how does the computer know the difference between 2 different types of data being transmitted?

  • How is data physically hardwired into a bios chip or Rom chip?

What I just read was that the data on that chip is hardwired into it. so does that mean that each transister is physically given a value of 1 or 0 before it's soldered in? Or is it electronically programmed and the transistors physically retain the value of what was on screen?

  • Can you melt skateboard wheels?

Like I've mentioned in past questions, i do a little bit of backyard metal casting with copper and aluminum, so this is something that got my attention. after doing a little research on how plastics are recycled, i wanted to start melting plastics and make a few things but wasn't sure what to cast or mould it into and then i remembered reading somewhere that skateboard wheels were injection molded like plastics are, and since i do skateboard i thought this would be pretty cool to try first and rip it up at the skatepark with wheels i manufactured myself but since skateboard wheels aren't plastic i thought I'd ask anybody with insight on this.

can skateboard wheels be melted down?

if so is the process similar to melting and molding plastics like hdpe?

what are skateboard wheels made of?

  • What do you get when you mix aluminum with steel?

i have a backyard furnace i use every now and then and I was trying to think of a way to make steel less corrosive and i started thinking " why don't people pour molten aluminum and steel into the same crucible before casting?" can you mix two alloys to make an alloy? is aluminum an alloy? what would the end result be, like would the steel be less corrosive or would the aluminum be denser or what?

    Thanks in advance

  • Does the size of the combustion chamber have to match the diameter of the cylinder?

Like does the combustion chamber have to cover the whole cylinder or is it supposed to be smaller than the bore, for example if i have a 4 inch bore would the combustion chamber have to be close to that or can the chamber be a completely different size?

  • Are higher transmission gears more fuel efficient than lower gears?

say you have a 6 speed transmission. Would the higher gears such as 4, 5, and 6 be more fuel efficient than the lower gears such as 1, 2, and 3. The way I'm looking at it is that in 1st gear the work load the engine has to do is much easier and is much easier to move the vehicle however it has to do like 5 times more work to move the vehicle. On high gears like 6th the work load that the engine has to do is a lot harder but it has to do less of it to move the vehicle.

In this scenario granted the lower gear makes it possible to get moving but would slightly changing the lower gear's ratio improve mpg? and if so would it be a significant or noticeable increase
