  • 3 month old teething and not sleeping?

My 3 month old son started teething about a week ago and just can not sleep until he's to the point where he's been up for five hours and just passes out. We have tried everything to calm him including teething gel and a cold cloth. He just stays up screaming at us. When he finally does get to sleep at night he wakes up a few hours later and refuses to go back to sleep. We are absolutely exhausted and I'm wondering if there is anything else that can help soothe him, at least until his appointment at the end of the month. He won't even let his father put him down which is very unlike him since he's never had an attachment problem before.

  • Right foot swollen after delivery?

I just had my baby on saturday and since around monday or tuesday I have been having extreme swelling in my right foot that will not go away. It is also slightly painful and my lower leg on the same side feels stiffer than the left and is painful when touched. Is there any explanation to this? Has anyone had this happen before?

  • Will he ever take my nipple again?

So I just had my baby boy Adryen two days ago. Well he had an extremely hard time latching on because apparently my nipples were too "flat" so the nurses introduced a breast pump into the situation just to help pull out the nipple. Sometimes I would pump a little and they would feel him through a syringe, so he was eating at least. Well today, a nurse I haven't seen before, when I told her I was going to pump because he wasn't latching on and he was freaking out, she used a small bottle with an artificial nipple on the top. He started latching on very well after that but then it happened again. Now when he does latch on, it's very briefly and he's having nipple confusion. Will I ever be able to successfully have him actually breastfeed again?

  • Real labor or false labor?

So I've been timing my contractions since about 4pm and have been experiencing them since about 10 am. It is 7 pm now

They have ranged from 60-90 seconds long and went from 20 minutes apart to 19 to 18, 18, 17,16,14,15,13

Is this real or false? Every time I have one they seem to decrease by one minute

  • contractions regulated when laying down?

Sorry for asking so many questions but it's bugging me. So I've been able to accurately time my contractions...but only when I'm laying down? When I stand up and start to move around, it feels like one huge contraction that doesn't stop and causes a severe amount of pain until i sit or lay down on my bed in a relaxed position, but it takes a few minutes to settle back in place. Right now my contractions are pretty far apart (20 minutes) and I'm 3 cm dilated (according to doc appt today) so I don't want to lay in bed all day just to find out if their closer. Has anyone else had this problem and why did it happen? Is there anything I can do about it? This was happening at my appointment today too

I'm also timing this early because I've had a lot of false labor so I really want to be sure before going to the hospital and my OB said that I was progressing and may be in early labor.

  • When should I start timing my contractions?

Ok so, I'm a little confused on when to start timing them and how to know which ones are real. Unfortunately, with my contractions I'm not having the tightening feeling or even my tummy hardening, just large pain in my back stomach and it hurts like hell to walk but I can walk. My contractions are really strong then start to die down but still painful. Should I time when the pain starts to fade away or when it's all gone? Also, should I only time the really painful ones because it feels like I have small contractions in between the large ones. I'm trying to determine when to go to the hospital because my doctor told me to go when my water breaks which several of you already said was stupid so I'm trying to go by how far apart and how strong they get. Any answers would be helpful :)

  • When should I go to the hospital?

I just came back from the doctors a few hours ago and I was 3 cm dilated. The baby also JUST engaged his head today after being completely stubborn. I'm having horrible contractions that seem extremely constant and I was when I was there too and she recognized that. However she told me to go to L&D when my water broke :/ Is there a time I should go before that since I know most women have their water broken at the hospital?

  • Random Leaking with no smell?

-Warning TMI sorry-So a little while ago I went to the bathroom and came back into the room and started leaking a little and I smelled it and there wasn't really a distinct smell of urine that I usually get whenever I feel this kind of leaking. It happened twice, again a little after the first time and I just really can't explain it because I haven't had it happen since then. Any explanations?

  • Can a weak hip affect labor?

I didn't get any answers last time I posted :(

Around 4 months pregnant I was diagnosed with a very weak hip which I went to physical therapy for and showed no results so I was discharged. My other hip seems to be getting weaker now since it's trying to support the extra weight that I've had to put on it due to pain in my left one. My current doctor does not know about my weak hips since I just got a new one a few weeks ago because I moved to a different region. I can't stay in a bath tub for too long without it hurting as well as I can not stand, walk, or sit for too long for the same reasons. Should this affect my labor and delivery or will I be fine or just have a great deal of pain afterwords? When my pelvis was expanding in an earlier part of my pregnancy I could barely move because the bones in my hip felt like they were going to break. I'm 40 weeks and 5 days pregnant due for an induction on the 28th, with a big possibility of having an emergency c-section because he has not started to descend into my pelvis.

  • My doctor won't do anything about my cold?

I'm 40 weeks and 4 days pregnant with a scheduled induction on the 28th which is in 6 days. I've had this cold for almost two weeks now and when I call the doctors it's always the one I dislike the most on the phone. When I first told him I was sick, he told me the basic "drink a lot of fluid, get rest, and take Tylenol". Well, I've been doing that for 12 days now and it has only gotten worse. I now have developed an ear infection and been coughing horribly, to the point where I've been throwing up. I called the doctors again yesterday and he was the one who responded. First, I had to tell him who I was and how far along I was because apparently he doesn't remember me at all. I even had to tell him where I went for prenatal care! He told me the same thing again. Well I'm at high risk for a c-section, even with the induction, and I read and was told that if I am sick they can't do a c-section on me if it's needed. What can I do?? I have an appointment on Friday with a female doctor (who I like because she gets angry at what the other doctors tell me) and I don't know if between Friday and Tuesday is enough time to get it out of my system if she does give me something. Anyone have similar experiences or any advice?

  • 40 weeks with stomach pain?

I'm 40 weeks and 3 days pregnant due for an induction next week on Tuesday. Since yesterday I've been having horrible stomach aches and I've been feeling nauseous. It hasn't been consistent, more of on and off every hour or so. Is there anything I can do to help? Tylenol doesn't work for me and I'm extremely hydrated because I've been drinking bottles of water nonstop. I have also been experiencing some urine leaking which is a first. I'm not quite sure what to do for all this pain, any suggestions?

  • Should I go to the hospital?

I've been sick since last Friday with a cold. It was starting to get better until people in my house came home with bronchitis so now my coughing has gotten worse to the point where I've been throwing up from it the past few days. I developed an ear infection this morning with is extremely painful. Is my throwing up harming the baby because every time I throw up my stomach hurts really bad. I don't know if this is worthy enough to go to the ER or if I should just wait and call my doctor in the morning and see what they say.

  • 40 weeks 1 day with bleeding?

I woke up to go to the bathroom and noticed that I am very lightly bleeding (only small streaks). On friday was my last doctors appointment where I was told that I was 2 cm dilated (after being 0 on monday so I was happy) and she also tried stimulating my cervix a little bit. Well after the exam I lost my mucus plug that day. Now I'm bleeding and I have no clue what is going on. Any ideas?

  • Wait...what just happened yesterday?

Since Sunday I've been having excruciating pain in my back that has made me scream and cry out. I called my doctor and they said there was nothing they could do. Yesterday I was still in extreme pain until... I went to the bathroom? All I did was urinate (tmi sorry) and all of a sudden ALL of my pain was gone. I have a little backpain still but it's perfectly normal and not very bad. The pain I was feeling before made it so I couldn't really walk or even sit up and now I'm walking all over the place and jumping around. I'm extremely confused about what happened, does anybody have any ideas???

  • How can I make the baby's head engage?

I'm 39w and 5d pregnant and my baby's head is not engaged. the baby currently will not leave my side (literally) how can I help persuade the baby to engage when the baby is constantly on one of my sides? The position is the back facing my side and the head is floating.

  • 39 weeks pregnant and severe pain?

For the last 2-3 days now I've been having horrible back pain. It has increasingly gotten worse to the point where I've been screaming in tears for about ten minutes at a time on and off. I went to the hospital on monday morning around midnight and I was sent home saying that I was not in labor because i was not dilated at all. But the pain still continues! Laying on my side does not help at all, it actually makes it worse at some points. Last night I could not sleep at all, I literally stayed up all night not a sleep and wake up thing. Tylenol does not work for me and I ran out of benedryl when i was told to take it Monday morning to help me sleep. I can't afford to buy any more. It only seems to delay the problem until I wake up again anyway. I was able to sleep for about two hours around 10am today but then woke up at 12 screaming in pain but it went away after about a half hour. There is nothing wrong with the baby, according to an ultrasound I had on monday the baby is actually in extremely healthy position so I just can't seem to explain the pain. My braxton hicks contractions never felt this way. The back pain is usually only on one side of me but it feels like it travels up my back and around my spine. When it's on both sides it feels like my back is going to be ripped apart. I can't do any kind of stretching because of pre-existing pain problems that I went to physical therapy for and they discharged me because it got worse. I can't even get up and walk around for more than a few minutes to see if that will help it go away because I have an extreme weak hip problem that also could not be helped by physical therapy. I just moved to a new location so I literally just met my doctor on friday and he's been hearing about me every day since then so I'm a little paranoid of calling to ask. My next appointment is friday and so I just want some advice on what may be going on and if there is any natural way to get it to go away until then. I also can not get back massages (pain problem).

  • Can someone help me figure out what's wrong?

I've already asked this but I barely got any answers.

I'm 39 weeks and 3 days pregnant and I've been up since about 11 am YESTERDAY. I can not sleep at all. I yawn but i don't actually feel sleepy. My husband and I did not have intercourse in about a week and when we found out I was not dilated at all we did yesterday around 5ish. Ever since then I've been having horrible constant pains in my back stretching around to my stomach a little bit and an inability to sleep. I don't want to call my doctor because I just came back from the hospital around 3am yesterday telling me I was having false labor. I have no clue what's going on at all because I'm feeling almost the exact same way I was in the false labor, which is pain that seems to get closer together with big pain but a constant back pain in general. I have not lost my mucus plug at all and I don't know if my cervix is even soft. The baby hasn't even engaged into my pelvis yet so I don't believe this is labor and I hate going to the hospital just to be turned away. So can anyone tell me why I'm having such horrible pain and why can't I sleep all of a sudden? I've already gone through my nesting phase.

It's about 9 am here now and I'm still wide awake

  • 39.3 weeks pregnant and can't sleep for the life of me?

I'm 39 weeks and 3 days pregnant and I'm sitting on my bed in my room next to my sleeping hubby and I just wish I could be him right now. I have a desire to sleep but no real feeling like I need to. I'm extremely awake right now and nothing helps. It's almost 6 am and I've been trying to sleep since about 1 am. Taking warm baths doesn't seem to help and the only thing I have available to take is my husbands sleeping medication but I already looked it up and studies haven't confirmed if it's safe or not. My baby is also tossing and turning in my belly right now which isn't really helping very much and I'm having constant pain in my back. Is there any reason why I can't sleep and is there any suggestions on how I can sleep?

Also I believe I have already gone through my nesting phase
