4 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoSince the rate of foreclosures is 4X higher near military bases, why do Repubicans oppose laws giving relief?
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=email_en&re...
Republicans oppose the GI Bill and they oppose mortgage relief legislation.
Republicans don't support our soldiers. They're happy to have them fight, be injured, and die in battle but they don't want to spend a penny more on them.
Isn't it a shame?
11 AnswersElections1 decade agoCan we trust McCain with the economy if campaign chair wrote the law central to the mortgage crisis?
In 1999, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, which McCain voted for, broke down the decades-old wall separating commercial banks, heavily regulated… from the wild and woolly world of investment banking… a wall erected in 1933 to prevent a repeat… of the Great Depression.

11 AnswersElections1 decade agoHas the Republican idea of an "Ownership Society" benefited the United States?
A couple of years ago G.W. Bush would often brag about the "Ownership Society" that Republicans had fostered that had resulted in the highest rate of home ownership in our country's history.
Lately, Bush and the Republican's haven't been talking about the "Ownership Society". Why do you think that is?

13 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhich presidential candidate was a member of the Keating 5?
Charles Keating was the Chairman of Lincoln Saving and Loan Association, a savings and loan that defrauded 21,000(+) investors (mostly elderly) out of their life savings in 1989.
Which current presidential candidate had 9 trips paid for by Charles Keating during the 1980's?
11 AnswersElections1 decade agoDoesn't the 'swift-boating' of Kerry show that Republicans lack respect for veterans who served country?
Republican's like to act like they support veterans more than Democrats. But, it is Republicans who have slandered war heroes like John Kerry and Max Cleland, in order to score political points.
28 AnswersElections1 decade agoSince Democratics pledged not to "campaign or participate" in FL & MI primaries, aren't the votes invalid?
Hillary Clinton is saying she pledged not to campaign in these states. The truth is that she pledged not to "campaign or participate" in the primaries.
This is a quote from the Four-State Pledge:
THEREFORE, I _______________, Democratic Candidate for President, pledge I shall not campaign or participate in any state which schedules a presidential election primary or caucus before Feb. 5, 2008, except for the states of Iowa,
Nevada, New Hampshire and South Carolina, “campaigning” is defined by the rules and regulations of the DNC. It does not include activities specifically related to raising campaign resources such as fundraising events or the hiring of
fundraising staff.
Isn't it clear that the votes in these states were invalid because candidates did not campaign?
Isn't Hillary Clinton only telling half the truth when she says she pledged not to campaign in these states?
10 AnswersElections1 decade agoWould Hillary Clinton make a good Supreme Court Justice?
I've heard it suggested that Hillary is continuing her campaign to get political leverage. Some have suggested she wants to be VP, others say she wants to influence the party platform, and others have said she wants Obama to pay off her debt. Recently I heard that she would like to be appointed as a Supreme Court Justice.
What do you think of Hillary Clinton on the Supreme Court?
23 AnswersElections1 decade agoAre there any Republicans elected to major offices (Congress, Governor) who are African American?
I recently heard that it's been six years since there has been Republican African-American elected as a House Representative, Senator, or Congressman.

25 AnswersElections1 decade agoWho's a bigger appeaser, Ronald Reagen or George W. Bush?
Ronald Reagen traded arms to Iran in exchange for releasing hostages.
George W. Bush negotiated with Libya, the country the blew up Pan Am 103 over from Lockerbie Scottland.
Republicans seem to be the true appeasers and simply project their weakness onto their opponents.
So who's the bigger appeaser, Reagen or G. W. Bush?
10 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhat do you think about Warren Buffet endorsing Barack Obama?
The world's richest man, Warren Buffet and best investor just endorsed Barack Obama.
Republicans who value of free market economics should have a great deal of respect for Warren Buffet's opinion. He has made his wealth making predictions about good investments. I guess he thinks Barack Obama would be a good investment for our county.
So what do you think about this development?
