How to set up Army AKO email?
I am an ROTC cadet that just got a CAC card and needs to access my AKO inbox, as I am expecting an important email soon.
I got into my account and everything, and I can click on the tab that says "AKO Mail Inbox" but I can not send messages from it (there is nothing that says "compose message" or anything of that sort), when I try emailing my AKO from my personal email it gets returned as undeliverable, and clicking the Webmail link just takes me to a calendar. I am not sure if I am missing something here.
I appreciate any help.
1 AnswerMilitary6 years agoHow to talk to a girl in a group at a concert (more details in description)?
I am going to a concert and this girl that I like is going to be there.
We are both in college. We have a mutual friend that thinks we would be really great together (I, as well as a few of my friends agree), and she (mutual friend) gave me her number so we could text each other. Her and I have never really met each other in person before. Our last conversation ended awkwardly.
Now I find out through FB that her and I are going to be at the same concert. I do not think I should ask her if she wants to go with me because we each are going in our own friend groups already, and I just don't think it would be a good idea to ask her.
The concert is going be relatively small and it will last an hour. I know she is going to be with a few friends (some of which I have met before) and I'm going with my buddy. I don't think it will be incredibly loud (I normally go to hardcore metal shows so I may not be the best person to judge that) but I am not sure if it will be at a level that would allow some conversation to take place.
So how do I 1) talk to her in that setting (should I try talking to her before the show starts, during or after), and talk to her while she is in a group and 2) being as it will probably be kind of awkward, how much time should I spend talking to her, how many times should I talk to her (as in do I talk her to once during the show and then maybe go up to her after the show as well, or should I just talk to her once) and do I stand next to her during the show?
2 AnswersSingles & Dating7 years agoArmy ROTC consequences for underage drinking and distributing fake opord?
I am an Army ROTC cadet. Someone in my battalion (not sure who), wrote up a fake OpOrd about a party that is going to take place Saturday night and sent it down the CoC to all the cadets in the battalion. The order looks really legit except that it gives all the details for some crazy party. Consumption of alcohol is specifically mentioned and as you can imagine, the vast majority of cadets that will be attending this are underage.
What happens to cadets if they get caught drinking underage? Is there a rule against distributing a fake OpOrd? This is not the first time this has been done (its the second that I am aware of and I can assume it happened last year too). Could I get in trouble for not telling cadre if the cadre found out and knew that I knew?
Any advice is appreciated.
3 AnswersMilitary8 years agoWhy does tiger balm make me feel itchy?
I am currently living in DC. Two weeks ago my neck muscle spasmed and along with taking a muscle relaxer, I applied tiger balm to the side of my neck that hurt. It certainly helped, but the next morning my neck was really itchy. It looked like I had a bunch of mosquito bites in that area. Then yesterday, my legs were feeling a little sore so I stretched and put some tiger balm on. Again, next morning there appear to be a bunch of mosquito bites behind my knee where I applied the tiger balm. This did not happen to me when I used tiger balm back in New York. Does tiger balm attract mosquitos or something?
1 AnswerOther - General Health Care8 years agoHamatrings and calf muscles are chromically tight?
The last few nights it has been hard for me to sleep because every two hours or so I wake up because my hamstrings and sometimes my calfs are really tight. I have VERY flexible hamstrings (I can touch my forehead to my shins no problem). However before now I rarely stretched the other muscles in my legs such as quads, inner thigh and buttocks. Could those muscles being tight affect my hamstrings? I also wonder if this may be caused by overuse. I have been running 6 miles a day for the last few months.
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
1 AnswerPain & Pain Management8 years agoIf I am medically dqed from Army ROTC, do they keep any history of me?
I have a 3 year Army ROTC scholarship. I am supposed to start as a freshman, but DoDMERB medically disqualified me in the spring, then approved my waiver on my appeal, but then reversed the decision a week ago and never told me.
The dq was because I had spondylolysis when I was 14. It has totally healed for me though, I have had two doctors write letters on my behalf saying that there is no more risk of me getting spondylolysis again than their is for people who have never had it. The entire cadre staff and everyone I have spoken to at DoDMERB (unfortunately no one who actually makes the decisions), agree with me and believe it is stupid to keep me out. Unfortunately, it appears one person intervened without anyone else knowing and changed my status.
Their is still one more person reviewing my file, but in the event the waiver is ultimately denied, I was wondering what my options were.
Do they delete all history of me after I am denied? If I try to apply for Army ROTC all over again, will they know I was dq'ed if I don't tell them? What about if I apply for Marine ROTC or try to enlist in the Marines of Army? The only thing I want to do in life is be in the Army. I would really appreciate any advice anyone has.
5 AnswersMilitary8 years agoArmy Medical Waiver Approved then Denied?
I have a 3 year Army ROTC scholarship. I am going to be starting as a freshman in less than week.
A while ago, DoDMERB said I needed a medical waiver because I had spondyolysis when I was 14. I submitted all the information they requested and made it brutally clear to them that my back has healed and has not been a problem for me since. They denied my waiver in the spring. I appealed and sent even more doctors letters and reports to them telling them there is no reason to keep me out. Everyone I spoke to at DoDMERB seemed to agree with me and everyone in my ROTC cadre agreed and thought it would get approved. Then they approved it. I was very happy. Then I find out yesterday, less than a week before I start, that someone reversed the decision, and denied it without notifying me or anyone else.
How is this possible? Who could have done this and why would it be reversed when it is painfully clear that I have no restrictions from a minor back problem I had as a high school freshman?
5 AnswersMilitary8 years agoMicrosoft Office won't open any files. Please Help!?
Every time I try to open a MS Office file from an email attachment, SkyDrive, or the internet, whatever application I am using (Word, Excel) will launch the startup window, but then once it gets to "opening in protected view" it just stalls there and never gets any further. I am using Microsoft Office 365 with Windows 8 on an Asus Vivotab Smart. Any help is much appreciated.
3 AnswersSoftware8 years agoHow to deal with Restless Leg Syndrome?
I have had RLS for the past few months now. It is really becoming unbearable. I can't remember the last time I slept more than six hours. I have tried everything to deal with it. I have worn compression socks, put soap under the sheets, sleep with a pillow between my legs, soak my feet in freezing water before bed, etc. I have also stopped taking antihistamines like the sleep doctor told me to, and that has not done a thing. I get out of bed and stretch whenever I wake up and that allows me to sleep for another hour or so before I wake up again. What else can I do? I am really starting to lose it.
3 AnswersOther - General Health Care8 years agoLeg discomfort at night?
Every night, after I go to sleep I wake up in the night because the muscles right behind my knees are very restless and has the urge to move (its in both legs just to be clear). I am a 17 year old male, and I have been running track for six years now. I sometimes notice the discomfort during the day, but it is only a problem when I am trying to sleep. It is NOT restless leg syndrome, because that is a "pins and needles" sensation, not at all like what I am experiencing. I just had an MRI and that did not show anything going on in my spine. I stretch my hamstrings intensely before bed every night, as that seems to reduce alleviate the discomfort for a time. I also stretch my hamstrings in the middle of the night when the discomfort wakes me up, as that allows me to go back to sleep for the time being, although I usually wake up an hour or so later. My sports doctor told me to take 800mg of Ibuprofen before bed, which I have been doing, and that seems to help, but it does not solve the problem, and I really can't be taking 800mg of Ibuprofen a night for the rest of my life.
I would really appreciate any explanation as to why this is happening to me. It is driving me crazy, and I am losing a lot of sleep.
2 AnswersPain & Pain Management8 years agoI am having trouble sleeping because my leg muscles are tight and are restless during the night. How to fix?
I have been running track for 6 years now. Only in the past year I have been having trouble sleeping because of my legs. I stretch a lot before bed, stretching my hamstrings for about 2:15 on each leg. Even then however, I keep waking up in the middle of the night and can't fall back to sleep because my leg muscles, mainly my hamstrings, tighten up and become restless. I don't understand why this is happening all of a sudden. I am very flexible for a guy, and have become more and more flexible as I have gotten older. I have tried epsom salt baths (which didnt do anything), I have tried putting aspercreme on my legs, and I have tried taking melatonin supplements (which made me sleep better when my legs werent bothering me, but didnt solve the actual problem). Does anyone know what may be causing this or what I can do to fix it? I appreciate any advice.
