  • Question about Nutri Cal?

I'm wondering if the nutri cal you buy over the counter at a pet store is the same as what you get at the vet's office. I wish I had bought a tube so I could compare ingredients, but I did notice that the packaging is different. I do rescue and use it for a variety of purposes on cats, dogs and ferrets.

  • A question about alcoholism and drug addiction?

I have a son that is 30 years old and is addicted to drugs and alcohol. Right now, he is in a hospital about an hour and a half from here being prepped for exploratory surgery. He is throwing up blood and his liver may be failing. His friends have asked me not to come because I agitate him, and he is already very agitated. I don't mean to, but it seems that he hears everything I say as an accusation or criticism. For instance, if I ask him how his son is doing, he thinks I am accusing him of not taking proper care of his son.

His friends tell me not to pressure him, but it's hard. The doctor says he has less than 5 years to live if he doesn't make immediate changes. Should I continue to try to get him into rehab, or just ignore the situation?

  • Question about meds?

I was diagnosed about 10 years ago. I got up to some fairly high doses of 3 different meds, 2 twice a day and one once a day. About a year ago I started feeling tired all the time and it got to the point where I was sleeping about 12 hours a day. I was too tired to run my business and almost lost everything because I couldn't work. I went to the doctor who ran blood tests and told me my sugar was fine and she couldn't find anything wrong with me. Eventually it got to the point where I couldn't afford my meds so I just quit taking them. No choice, really.

Well, three weeks after I quit my meds I had lost 22 lbs without dieting and my energy returned. My business is back to normal, I feel great, and I've lost another 13 lbs. Even my arthritis is better, I suppose because at my new reduced weight it's not such a strain on my hips and knees.

In my situation, would you go back to the doctor and try to get back on meds? I'm afraid to test my sugar.
