What do public school teachers have against homeschool teachers?
It seems like I’m constantly hearing public school teachers complain about homeschool parents. Specifically, they don’t seem to think that parents without a teaching certificate could possibly teach their own kids. I really do not understand this attitude. Our homeschool group had 27 students graduate this past semester. 21 of them are going on to college, 6 are entering the military. Almost all of those going to college are receiving full or close to full academic scholarships. My own child earned a 29 on his ACT, and is receiving a full scholarship to UT-K. How can anyone say we haven’t successfully taught our children? I can see needing a teaching certificate to teach a large group of students (I wouldn’t have a clue as to how to approach that). Teaching just my two, and sometimes small groups of 6-8 in a co-op class has not been difficult.

This is mostly for public school teachers. Why do public school teacher tell their students that school isn't for socializing, and then raise concern that homeschoolers are missing out on the socializing in public school? I've heard several of the public school teachers in my church complain that their students think their in school to socialize, and that they can't get them to focus on the academics. Then on other occassions, the same teachers suggest to the homeschooling parents that our kids don't get chances to socialize, and are missing out because they aren't in public school. We just point out the tutorials, co-ops, and other activity groups we're involved with to counter that argument.
