  • Can I go kayaking on holiday in France?

I have my own inflatable kayak (that I got a few years ago to encourage me to get back into the sport) and I'm wondering if I can take it with me and use it on the sea when I drive to France in a few days. I have a BCU 2 Star award, but I got it probably about 15 years ago, if that makes a difference. I haven't actually gone kayaking in years, but I used to do it quite a bit when I was a kid (and have done open water trips before, but again not in a long time). I'm not planning on doing anything too adventurous on holiday, just a paddle about by the beach. Thanks :)

  • Download and transfer documents on iPhone?

I'm wondering if there's any way to do this... I've looked all over the place and am stuck.

I want to be able to save a document to a shared Dropbox, my colleague to pick it up on the Dropbox app on his iPhone, download it to the phone while he's travelling (over 3G), and then plug in the phone to his laptop (USB) when he gets to his destination and simply transfer the file to the laptop. Can this be done?

Currently he has to wait until he gets to the hotel (or wherever he's going) and get on a Wifi network, or use a 3G dongle, and then download the file off Dropbox onto his laptop. It would save him a lot of time if his iPhone could be downloading it in the background while he travels, so that its there waiting for him on his phone when he arrives.

I've tried using DiskAid to view the contents of the iPhone while plugged in via USB, but I can't work out how to download files to a folder on the iPhone that is accessable by DiskAid. I thought about downloading files from a Dropbox link using any old file-downloading app, and then renaming the extension from (for example) .ppt to .jpg and somehow putting it in the camera roll, but I can't see a way of changing file extensions on the iPhone for starters.

Is anybody already doing this, or know a way to do this, cos its driving me up the wall.

  • OK to take Amoxicillin antibiotics proactively?

    Hi all,

I've been prescribed a course of 500mg Amoxicillin tablets just-in-case a sinus inflammation becomes infected. I'm going to be going away over the weekend and will be the only driver for our group, and am worrying that if the infection starts on Sunday (when I need to drive everyone home), I won't be able to drive. The doctor said it would be very painful and could affect my balance - maybe not ideal conditions to drive in.

Would it be dangerous or inadvisable to take the antibiotics proactively? My GP said that if i took them too early, all they would do is stave off the infection, and it could come back later. This actually sounds pretty good to me, as pushing back the (possible) infection till Monday would save a whole load of trouble. Are there going to be any major problems with this, considering that i currently do not have the infection (aside from the usual stated side-effects, of course)?

    Thanks

  • MySQL/PHP: How to concatenate whole column of values?

    Hi all,

I have a table containing a few rows, with each row being a different shop. Each shop has a total sales value field. How can I concatenate all the total sales values for all the shops together into a string?

    Eg.

    Shop | total_sales

    Shop1 | 100

    Shop2 | 200

    Shop3 | 500

    String: 100,200,500

I have tried concat(total_sales) FROM mytable; but it doesn't work

    thanks :-)

  • PHP/MySQL concatenate problem?

Hi all, I'm really hoping someone can help me with this!

I'm trying to concatenate the values from a number of cells in a MySQL table that are spread out over a number of rows.

So far, my query is as follows:

    SELECT GROUP_CONCAT(`data_txt`) FROM jos_sobi2_fields_data WHERE `fieldid` = 14 OR 15 AND `itemid` = 1

I made a graphic to explain what I need to happen (and show the table's structure) here http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/9458/mysqlprobl...

Currently this almost works.... but rather than giving me the data_txt values from just the rows I want (where fieldid=2,3,4and5 and itemid=1), I get all of the data_txt values for ALL of the rows where itemid=1 (if that makes sense).

    Any help? :-)

  • Home contents/building insurance (UK)?

I'm just about to move into a rented flat with my girlfriend, and we're trying to get our insurance sorted, but one thing is worrying me. If we have tenants contents insurance, and we accidentally cause structural/building damage (eg. by causing a flood or a fire), will the landlord's insurance cover the repairs, or will we be expected to (as we caused it).

Most contents insurances we've looked at only cover you for between 2k and 12k of damages to the landlord's fixtures and fittings, and say nothing about cover for structural damages. it also seems that we can't get building insurance, as we don't own the property.

so if the landlord's insurance expects us, the tenants, to pay for any building damages we may cause, and our contents/tenants insurance doesn't cover that, would we be personally liable for tens or hundereds of thousands of pounds of costs?

    thanks :-)
