  • Where is Sheriff Joe when civil rights are abused?

SB 1070, reasonable suspicion call it what you like but it seems that the enforcement of certain laws have only led to "discriminatory policing practices within the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office". The Department of Homeland Security will be terminating Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Office 287(g) agreement and restricting its access to the Secure Communities program but how many think that Sheriff Joe will still do what Sheriff Joe wants to do even if it is in open violation of current laws? (in part)

"Justice Department Confirms Civil Rights Abuses in Maricopa County"

"The Department of Homeland Security announced Thursday that it would be terminating Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Office 287(g) agreement and restricting its access to the Secure Communities program after a scathing Justice Department report found that the department had been routinely practicing unconstitutional policing.".....

....."Following a three-year investigation into MCSO’s practices, DOJ found that the office had engaged in racial profiling, unlawful seizures, unjustified stops and arrests, and other discriminatory actions in violation of the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment.

It also found that Latino drivers were four to nine times more likely to be stopped than non-Latino drivers in similar situations.".....

....."DOJ’s review of all of the traffic-related incident reports generated by MCSO’s Human Smuggling Unit (“HSU”) over a three-year period showed that roughly one-fifth of the reports, almost all of which involved Latino drivers, contained information indicating that the stops were conduct ed in violation of the Fourth Amendment’s prohibition against unreasonable seizures.

Individual accounts regarding MCSO deputies stopping Latinos on the basis of their appearance corroborate the use of discriminatory policing practices.

DOJ’s investigation uncovered a number of instances in which immigration-related crime suppression activities were initiated in the community after MCSO received complaints that described no criminal activity, put rather referred, for instance, to individuals with “dark skin” congregating in one area, or individuals speaking Spanish at a local business. The use of these types of bias-infected indicators as a basis for conducting enforcement activity contributes to the high number of stops and detentions lacking in legal justification.

MCSO detention officers discriminatorily punish Latino LEP inmates who fail to understand commands given in English by, for example, locking down their pods (which increases the risk of inmate-on-inmate violence), or imposing disciplinary segregation (solitary confinement).

MCSO pressures Latino LEP inmates to sign voluntary return forms that implicate constitutional and statutory rights without language assistance.

MCSO retaliates against individuals who criticize its police practices, including practices relating to its discriminatory treatment of Latinos, by subjecting its critics to retaliatory detentions and arrests without cause, unfounded civil lawsuits, and other baseless complaints.

MCSO fosters and perpetuates discriminatory police and jail practices by failing to operate in accordance with basic policing and correctional practices and by failing to develop and implement policing and correctional safeguards against discrimination in such areas as training, supervision, and accountability systems.".....

  • Why would Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer be at a loss for words in her first debate?

Why do you think Governor Brewer began stumbling and forgetting her "speech"? Is it that the Governor is beginning to see the "errors" in her logic, has she sudden dementia onset or was this stalling "when Brewer was asked to support her claims that murderous illegal immigrants are leaving headless bodies in the Arizona desert."?

"Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer at a loss for words in first debate"

    "It's a politician's worst nightmare: Drawing a complete blank in a high-profile debate.

That's what happened to Arizona GOP Gov. Jan Brewer, who lost her train of thought during her opening statement during her first televised debate with her Democratic challenger, state Attorney General Terry Goddard.

Brewer was in the middle of talking up her record in office. "We have done everything that we could possibly do," Brewer said, as she suddenly seemed at loss for words."We have, uh, did what was right for Arizona."

For several cringe-inducing seconds, she smiled and laughed as she struggled to come up with something to say. Here's the video:"

    (Video embedded in website)

""My opening was not my finest hour," Brewer told Phoenix's KTAR radio Thursday. "It was the longest 16 seconds of my life. But I'm human, I'm human."

The stumble gave some pundits pause in part because Brewer -- who is getting national attention for her push for illegal immigration reform in her state -- is no stranger to controversy or primetime TV. As Politico's David Catanese observed, it was "a surprising performance for someone who has made repeated rounds on the national cable talk show circuit and has appeared mostly at ease during the give-and-take sessions."

"The Gaffe Reels: Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer"

"You may have caught the debate in the Arizona governor's race last night, which featured a moment that's sure to make you wince -- especially if you're a supporter of sitting Governor Jan Brewer. During her opening statement in the debate against state attorney general Terry Goddard and others, Brewer suddenly stopped speaking, looked down at her hands, and emitted a strangled giggle. And there were more awkward moments after the debate, when Brewer was asked to support her claims that murderous illegal immigrants are leaving headless bodies in the Arizona desert. Brewer again froze and, without answering, turned and walked away. So how bad was Brewer's botch-up? As a popular governor whose support for the state's tough anti-illegal immigrant law has won her great favor, does Brewer face new political vulnerability from the slip? Or should everyone be allowed a momentary brain freeze -- professional politicians included?"

  • Pro-illegals; what is your opinion of "Jamiel"s Law"? Why do posters use these tactics?

    Here is the question.

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AtYBu...

Pro illegal is that what name you use for the person interviewed in the article? But then that would be against the point you are trying to make. Why does it seem that some posters only use parts of an article, just the parts that help prove a point.

See by not giving credit for the source of your quotes, one might think that you are the source.

    What you leave out (besides source credit) is;

"Espinoza's early release from jail led the Shaws to call for the passage of "Jamiel's Law," which would push Los Angeles police to crack down on illegal immigrant gang members.

Cube says the video is not meant as an endorsement of the move.

"It ain't really a commentary on that," he says. "You've got a person being killed by a person he don't know for a reason he don't know ... Who cares if it was an immigrant or if it was a taxpaying citizen?"

    http://www.wtopnews.com/?nid=114&sid=1490938

But for those that care for the laws passage here is a link with the details for those supporting Jamiel's Law .

"Beginning June 28, 2008, we started circulating the petition for signatures. We must get about 74,000 signatures of registered voters who live in L.A. within 120 days."

  • Are you ready for who did it?

It's now being said a child started the California fires. So many spoke up quickly and pointed fingers at the illegals. It is possible that this child may be an illegal's child but I'll wait to hear more before I make a stance on this point.

How many here are will to admit they jumped the gun, not apologize just admit we sometime use bad judgement.

  • If you pictured the "perfect" 10 w/ parts from people you knew, where would they come from?

If I imagined her she would have

Long thick red hair from Lisa a girl I grew up with and now is wheelchair bound. She is beautiful.

The face of Debbie. You visited, we were friends and lovers. Come back Las Vegas don't need you.

Shoulders like Monica, I worked w/ her. they were soft, white and warm

Breasts of Tammy, my sister in law. Perfect in shape and size

Stomach of Adela, a homeless woman I shared time with.

The special center that would be Maggie. I worked with her, what a work she was.

Legs of my Heidi. The being of my love, their long, slender, firm and mine thank you

As for her feet, I say only she the daughter of one of the above.

So other than looking they will always be warm, soft and pink from a respected vision.

There you have it, in my mind the prefect 10. I doubt I'd ever see this person in real life, but I don't mind looking forever.

    Whats yours?
