I have currently one drive (584 GB, NTFS system) on which Windows 7 is installed. Around 534 GB is free in this drive. I want to create a new partition of say, 450 GB, without affecting the data on the original partition. I tried doing it through the Windows Disc Management (shrink feature) but it only allocates around 250 GB to the new partition. So what is the best way to this ?

I just bought a new laptop. I am not a hardcore gamer, but I definitely play some heavy games, sometimes for long hours. I was thinking of using Cooling Pad while gaming so as to prevent any kind of damage due to overheating. Does they really make any considerable difference ?

Also, which Cooling Pad would be suitable for this laptop ?

I just bought a new laptop which has a battery backup of around 3.5 hours. I know from my previous experience that this backup time will decrease with time. So are there any methods to prolong the battery life ?

Should I use the laptop on power-on all the time ? Or should I alternate between battery and power-on ? How much should I alternate ?

Should I discharge the battery completely once every month ?

We are organizing an online programming competition in our college. We have decided to make a software which the participants will download on their computer, they will get the questions on it through our server(so they have to be connected to the internet) and will give the answers. While they are taking the test, everything else on the computer will be blocked.

I am looking for suggestions to make the user interface more programmer friendly. Say, for e.g. we can include a compiler in it so that one can check if the code he wrote works or not.

All suggestions are welcome.

I want a flash menu(horizontal) for my website. Since I dont know how to make it on Adobe Flash, i was wondering if there is any good software or online builder for it. I can make good images in Photoshop but I cant work in flash. I tried some softwares but most of them had some drawback.

I am gonna start learning Flash and Flex very soon. It will be Flash first and then Flex. I will refer to some online tutorials, but since I cant be on the internet all the time, I need a book that i can read when i am not on computer....So which one should I buy ?

We are opening a snooker club very soon. The inside has 5-6 walls on which I plan to do some graffiti work. So I will be needing some lines.

Like "cue it or screw it". It doesnt really have to be snooker related...

I am planning to buy a new laptop soon. I have two options. One is Dell Studio XPS with Intel i5 processor(2.53 Ghz with turbo boost upto 2.8 GHz). And the other is Dell Inspiron with AMD Phenom Quad core mobile processor(2.0 GHz)

Not looking in the cost factor, which processor will be better ?

P.S. : I play games but am not a "hardcore" gamer !

I have an Apple Macbook 5,2. I had Mac OS X Leopard with Windows 7 installed with bootcamp. Windows 7 was on a 130 GB NTFS partition. I accidentally formatted my Win 7 partition while trying to install Linux along with two OSes. Now I have installed Snow Leopard in place of Leopard and reinstalled Windows 7 on that partition. I am trying to recover the data that resided in Win 7 partition earlier. Help me! I have tried using Data Rescue 3 in Mac and many other recovery tools under Windows but in vain. Please help! All my work is lost.

I recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop on my Sony Vaio notebook. Its working fine and I am loving it. Right now, i use wired broadband on it.

Recently, I heard about its Netbook Edition. Is there any difference ?

I only use it for internet, music and movies.

I will be using Wifi and wireless broadband after a month.

So should I shift to netbook edition ?

I am to join college in july. I have taken Computer Science. So I was thinking I get familiar with it before going to college. I have one month to learn anything.

I was planning to buy a wireless mouse. I decided on Belkin's Wireless mouse rather than Logitech or Microsoft because of the cost. I am not that much of a hard core gamer. But do play games on my laptop.

I am planning to buy an external hard disc. I found two of them good. Seagate 1TB and Western Digital 500GB....The price of both of them are almost the same. So I was wondering if WD is better than Seagate ? (considering WD 500GB and Seagate 1TB at same price)

If I start a file download on my computer, and then hibernate, will it pause the download or will it continue downloading the file ?

I have Win7 Ultimate, 2GB RAM. I use my computer only to surf the internet, watch movies and listen to music. Both of them are running fine.
