How do I get my 4 year old of a company's mailing list?
My 4 year old is getting offers from State Farm asking if he would like to get coverage. I am really upset by this because I am not sure who would sell his information. He has a savings account at our credit union but I'm not sure if that is how State Farm got his info. Other than the savings account I'm not sure of any way they would have gotten his name & address. Also I am thinking of contacting the credit bureaus to see if maybe someone stole his identity, it seems far fetched but is a possibility. I just don't want someone to take advantage of my child.
2 AnswersOther - Business & Finance1 decade agoWhy is it that the postal service charges you $1 to change your address online? You'd think it would be free.?
I think it is kinda lame that USPS can charge you money for changing your address online. You can print the form online but you still have to pay the price of a stamp to send it in. With the form you get at the post office you pay nothing. You would think that by doing it online you are saving them time & money so they would have it be free. How lame though.
4 AnswersCorporations1 decade agoWhere can you get a GED without having to do the prep work, just take the test?
My husband wants to get his GED, we live in Wyoming & for him to get his GED here he would have to take a practice test which would take like 3 hours & then he would have to do some study and practice stuff that with the test would be a minimum of 12 hours before he could take the test. My husband has a full time job and works a lot of overtime & he can't be taking time off to get a GED. We would like to know if there are any states near us that don't require the prep work, ones that would just let him go in & take the test. I know that is how they do it in California where he is from but we aren't gonna go all of the way out there for a GED. Any help would be appreciated though!
3 AnswersStandards & Testing1 decade agoCollections Agency Says They Can't Delete Account...?
My husband has an account from the power company from when we moved from one apartment to another, all still in the same building but they opened a new account and we never received anything as a final bill on the old account or anything saying we had a new account when we moved. We called the power company and they told us that if we paid the account through the collections agency they would be able to delete it. We called the collections agency to see if we paid the bill if they would delete it, they told us that they can't delete it. Somethng along the lines of them losing their rights to collect if they delete things that are supposed to be there. I have heard in the past that collections agencies aren't required to report anything, they can delete or change things at their own accord. If anyone has any idea as to what I should do I would appreciate it. I have kinda been thinking I should just pay the balance to the power company & then either tell them to report this to their collections agency or pay the power company & then let the credit reporting agencies know that I paid it with the original creditor or let the collections agency know that I paid it with the original creditor. I am just a little lost. Thanks for any help though!!
2 AnswersCredit1 decade agoDispute w/ TransUnion about Repossesion?
My husband & I returned a car about 2 years ago & it hit our credit reports as a repossesion. We filed an online dispute through TransUnion because we dispute the amount listed that we owe. They say we owe the original amount of the loan but what we really owe is the amount of the loan minus the amount they later sold the car for, which is a $4000 difference. The dispute came back from TransUnion saying that we can mail in documentation supporting the amount we owe which we do have, but my real question is, should I send the documentation with a letter saying I will only pay the amount listed on the paperwork, to the financing company for the car. Also if I should write the financing company a letter what should I say in it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
2 AnswersCredit1 decade agoCan they really charge me $200 early termination fee for internet service?
So my husband went to work for the local cable company, where he gets free internet, so we cancelled our telephone & internet service from Qwest who is a telephone company. I talked to several people while I was cancelling & nobody ever mentioned that I would be charged a $200 early termination fee. I of course call them back as soon as I get the final bill & they say that the only thing they can do to get me out of the early termination fee is to set the internet up again & let the contract expire which wouldn't be until January 18, 2009. The cost of setting the internet up again would be $39.99 per month pluse their taxes & fees. Which in the end would be more than $200. I just really am kinda irked & wanted to see if there is anyway of getting out of it.
