I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 5-speed manual. The motor is freshly rebuilt. I got it back from the shop and 2 weeks later the flywheel came loose. So I pulled my transmission and tightened the flywheel and re set my clutch etc. nothing, luckily, was damaged. The next day I drove it to work and it started to overheat. I found my radiator had a hole put in it from where I towed it home from the flywheel being loose. So I replaced the radiator. Started it up and it ran fine. Started to pull out of work and the car shut down. It cranks and cranks and cranks but will not start. It is getting fuel, I'm not getting spark. It has brand new NGK iridium spark plugs, new wires, new cap and rotor, new distributor, new crank shaft position sensor, all the grounds are good, all the sensors are connected, the battery is fairly new, and all the fuses and relays are good. Another thing is the radio does not turn on, my key fob will not lock my doors and the buttons will only lock my doors when the key is in the on position. I've come to the conclusion that it is my ecu, I just am not sure which one. I have the main ecu and then I have a front ecu in my fuse box under my hood. I've pulled the front one out and opened it up and found the capacitors are good on it. Does anyone have any other suggestions or any info as to which ecu I would need to replace?

I know the 01 Eclipse GT and the 3000 GT have the same engine block. The basic differences are the heads and the orientation of the engine in the bay.

Before everyone starts telling me to do some research on it, I have, for several hours, and I still haven't found the answers I'm looking for.

Is the rotation of the head and the firing order what stops me from doing a direct swap?

Do all the holes for the coolant, etc. line up on the DOHC head and the block of the Eclipse GT?

Basically, does everything line up right and everything fit right to where I could just order custom cams to make it work?

It was 10 oclock at night. I was driving home when I drove past a wreck where a drunk man rear ended a woman and ran her into a ditch and flipped her car. I drove for another mile and saw 2 or 3 cops with a black truck pulled over on a side road. I slowed down below the speed limit as I went by. After I went by I dropped it down to third gear and sped back up to the speed limit. A few minutes later I see these headlights coming up fast behind me. I panic thinking about the wreck I just saw and sped up. The headlights are still at least 3/4 of a mile behind me but it is a straight road so I can see them gaining on me. I hit 120 mph freaking out and immediatley slow back down to 80 and continue going watching these headlights gain on me. I stop at a stop sign and take off again and drive a little bit farther and decide to just pull off the side of the road and let this guy go by me. As I slow down and pull off, these lights come over the hill and pull in behind me and then the blue lights come on. The cop chewed me up and down. He said, quote, "I saw your little red sports car with your loud exhaust and blaring music speed by me. You probably didnt see me cause we had a guy pulled over on a side road." He would ask me a question and as I was answering him he would ask me another question and then get onto me for interrupting him and not answering him. Then after I finally did get to answer him, he didnt believe my answers. He tried to acuse me of being drunk and tried to search my vehicle. Finally, when my mom got there and gave him the same answers, he believed me. I am 17 and live in Tennessee and I was in Kentucky when the Kentucky State Cop turned on his lights. He said he clocked me at 117 mph and he was doing 130 mph trying to catch me. How is it the only time I hit 120 for like 2 seconds and slowed back down, thats when he clocked me and how come he chased me for 7 miles at 130 mph without his blue lights on? What should I do and how can I get out of it? I admit I do have a semi loud exhaust but it is legal and I turn my subs and music down when I go by any type of law enforcement. Also I didnt have my license on me cause my wallet fell out of my pocket during 4th block at school, he didnt believe that until my mom got there and told him she got a call from the school earlier that day. Is that not prejudice against red sports cars? He said he thinks I was speeding cause I was in a red sports car with an exhaust? Thats why he chased me for 7 miles? At 130mph? With no blue lights on?

Hey I have this Supra that my dad bought brand new. He has had the heads reworked. It's started overheating several years ago. He has let it set for a long time an now I'm interested in fixing it. He tried to fix it back when it started overheating. He got a new radiator, 2 thermostats, water pump, new hoses, complete system flush, an got it pressure tested. Everything checked out ok. He can let it set and run and it won't over heat but after you drive it for a little bit then it overheats. I haven't seen it do this since I was young when the problem occurred. I've replaced spark plugs and charged the battery and all the normal maintainance to get it up and running to try to find the problem. I'm pretty experienced working with my 2001 Mitsubishi Ecplise V6, so I should be able to do whatever it takes to fix it unless it requires a complete rebuild, only cause I don't have and engine hoist or stand. Wish I did lol. Help please cause I can't think of what else it would be.

Hey I was wondering what would be the best performance upgrade I can do for $85. It's just after Christmas and all I got was $85, a new clutch, some tools, and a car cleaning kit. I've already put a cold air intake(not short ram), and new cat back exhaust, and like I said a new clutch. I was thinking new spark plug wire set and new performance spark plugs would be in the ball park of around $100. I can do that but don't go to out there in the price range. It needs to be able to be done in a day so my dad doesn't get suspicious. Any other suggestions for things in my price range? I wanna get the most HP for my buck.

I work at a convenience store. I'm a senior in highschool and have a few school things that we do out of school for grades for band at specific times, like parades and competitions. My boss and everyone else likes to make fun of me because I don't get alot of hours because of it. I go into the store alot because they never work me when I'm free. They constantly rag me saying things like, "Your here all the time, why don't you work a little." I tell my boss ahead of time about band stuff that is all for grades yet he schedules me at that time anyways and I have to find someone to work my shift. All the time they it's constant jokes about how I want to work but never can yet I'm still up at the store all the time. It's really making me mad. I walked in the store the other day and my boss had hired someone new. When I walk up he said to her, " This is ____, this is who's spot you are taking." and snickered about it. It's not that I cant work. I have plenty of time to work and would love to work but I never get any hours and I get made fun of for it. Like this week for example, I needed the weekend off to go tryout for a drum corps. When I told my boss he was said, "dang you might as well take the week off." and the next day when the schedule was out I only had 7 hours of work, Friday 3 - 11. I have absolutely nothing to do after school this whole week and the week after that and so on. Yet I only get 7 hours. It gets annoying not getting any hours when I need the money, and then getting made fun of for it. I've worked there for 6 months now and the 16 year old sophomore that's worked there for probably 3 months max gets more hours than me! Sorry for rambling but I wrote it as it came to mind. Please help! What should I do? This is my first job and Goodyear just closed where I live so no one is going to hire me over someone who lost their job to Goodyear. So finding a new job is almost out of the question.

Hey i have a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT V6 3.0L. i put a cold air intake on today. i used a mass flow air plate so i can connect my air flow sensor to it so my check engine light wont come on. I drove around about two hours until my engine started idling at about 3000 rpms, even with the clutch pushed in. It happened after i reved it up while driving down the road. i don't know what it could be. i checked to make sure nothing got stuck under the pedal at the pivot point under my dash and check to make sure the throttle cable wasn't being pulled from under the hood. Could it be the computer telling it to do that or that the sensor is backwards and at a different angle than what it used to be? i didn't think the way the air moved through sensor mattered so i connected it the easiest way to connect it to the CAI piping.

Ive read several forums on this but no one answers what I need to know. I have 2 12" Memphis street reference subs in a modified professional box. All I did was cut it and resealed it so it would fit in my truck. But now I want to know if i build a bigger box, will they hit harder. I don't want any crap about how it depends on amp wattage and blah blah blah. I have the recommended amp wattage and all that crap. All I want to know is if I put them in a bigger box to take up all the room behind my seat, will it hit harder and deeper. I have a sealed box and plan on keeping it sealed because I went to a professional when I bought them to have him check it out and a sealed box is what he recommended. So simple yes or no please. If yes, why does getting a bigger box make it louder and deeper? Does the box vibrate with the speakers to help it project more sound?
