Just a couple of things.... I am old school when it comes to keeping fish. I've been at it for over 35 years. Along the way I have learned a few things: 1. Big fish eat little fish. 2. Nothing can live in a bowl (or a vase). 3. The inch per gallon "rule" is pure crap. 4. Airstones do not oxygenate water. 5. Pacu do not belong in home aquariums. 6. Trying to toy with pH is a good way to kill fish. 7. There is no substitute for good maintenance. Please do not try to impress anyone by telling them that you have been keeping fish for 5 years and have had a lot of fish. That just means you have killed a lot of fish. Why would anyone recommend seeking advice on fish problems from a local fish store? For most these days, the LFS means a major chain store. I have tanks that are older than most of the employees at my LFS. When you ask a question, provide the info people need to help you. The more info you provide, the better the answers you can get. Anyone is welcome to email me with ?'s
