  • Pacquiao vs. Marquez ......questions?

I've been hearing excuses as to why some say Pacquiao won...

    1) "Threw" more punches

-really.....how many of these were effective punches? Mayweather throws around 25-35 punches per round, BUT THEY LAND EFFECTIVELY......can't say that for the Pac Man this last fight (except for the one that caught Marquez's eye early in the fight).

    2) In order to beat the champ you have to knock him down

    - then what the f*&k are the scorecards for then? Should they not keep score if they fight again, and tell Manny all he has to do is stay on this feet to win? Sounds ridiculous huh?

    3) Marquez was backing up the whole fight a la Skip Gayless

-if you are knowledgable about boxing, you understand the importance of MAINTAINING the appropriate distance from your opponent and evading punches.....especially if you are a counter-puncher. In my opinion, ineffective aggression only wins rounds if the other fighter is completely on the defensive (not throwing punches at all).

  • What's the point of Pac vs. Margarito?

I don't understand why Margarito's name is being mentioned as a possible opponent for Manny. Mosley already KO'd him. Why not Berto who's undefeated.....or even Bradley? This is MORE than a coincidence people, ITS A PATTERN!!! Pacquiao's managers are PURPOSEFULLY keeping him away from black boxers (american raised....Clottey does not count).

  • Are we STILL talkin about xylocaine?

"Xylocaine allows Floyd to hit harder because it numbs his hands and you can basically hit a guy as hard as you want and not feel any pain. Your fists become like bricks!!!"~ your typical pactard

When has Floyd been known for his power? He's not a KO artist. Everyone has been saying "Floyd has no power" for the longest and now they do a complete 180. If he used xylocaine it was to help him tolerate the pain associated with his normal punching, NOT to allow him to load up on his punches. When have you ever seen Floyd try to throw the "one hitter quitter"? If he were throwing as hard as he could, he'd definitely have more KO's considering his high connect %. And on top of that, most of Floyd's fights go the distance. Was Floyd using xylocaine back in the 90's when he was STILL beatin everyone's azz? HELL NO!!! So WTF makes you think that xylocaine is the reason he's winning now? Are we saying that a Ricky Hatton or Clottey on xylocaine would beat Manny? Or that a Marquez or Mosley with xylocaine would have given Floyd a run for his money? STOP THE HATE!!!!

  • Dayum Pac! Be a man and speak for yourself!?

After the recent fight btwn Mayweather and Mosley, I heard that Pacquiao had "softened his stance" of the testing issue. Now here comes Bob Arum (Pac's Daddy) trying to tell us what Pacquiao really said. Does anyone else see how bytchmade this makes Pac look? If you didn't say it, THEN TELL US YOURSELF!!! Floyd was right on the money when he called Pac out for not speaking for himself. I think Arum will try everything in his power to keep Pac from getting in the ring with Floyd (despite all the shyt he was talkin b4). Not a good look Pac.

  • How many punches did Mosley throw last night?

I keep hearing people say how Pac will beat Mayweather due to his high volume punching. What these people fail to realize is that Shane threw fewer punches than he normally does. Why? Because he was weary of Mayweather's jabs and countering. Pac will also be hesitant to let his hands go against Floyd, which will result in a lower punch output. Also, I know a lot of people enjoyed seeing Mosley rock Floyd in round 2. Don't count on it when Pac fights him. It was a lucky shot. Not saying Pac wont land punches, but it they won't be that flush. I predict a KO for Floyd against Manny.

  • Wait!!!! I thought Floyd was scared of Shane??

Now that the above accusation has been laid to rest, the new claim of Mayhaters/Pactards is that Floyd is afraid to fight Manny. Anything to keep from admitting that Floyd is the best fighter out there. Its alright though, as Manny's azz whoopin is on the horizon and everyone's mouth will be shut once and for all. What will they come up with next?

  • why doesn't porsche make hard-top cabriolets?

In my opinion, the canvas (or whatever the hell its made of) cover takes away from the appearance of the vehicle. Why can't they make the cabriolet with an option for hard-top similar to Mercedes? Of course it would cost more, but it would be well worth it. I would love to eventually get a cabriolet, but I just can't get past the cover! Is there a specific reason why they aren't doing this?

  • Hey Manny, was it the bloodtesting OR did u simply get your A** whooped?

Manny statements of feeling weak only came AFTER he lost to Morales. Did he feel weak immediately after the testing OR was he feeling FINE until he lost? I don't think Manny would have stepped in the ring to begin with if he felt "weak" before the fight.

  • Who's REALLY scared? Manny? Floyd?

If Floyd were scared, wouldn't it have been easier for him to just refuse Pac's original demands instead of "coming up with a stipulation he knew Pac would disagree to"? All accusations of Floyd being scared are speculations and EMPTY accusations UNTIL Pac takes the tests. Its just as easy to say Pac is avoiding Floyd based on his unwillingness to submit to the testing considering how weak(no pun intended) his argument was. I guarantee the fight would be on if Manny took the RBT. If after that,Floyd refused to fight for whatever reason, then the accusations would have validity. Looking at the situation fairly, its Manny's move as Floyd met them halfway with their requests and added one of his own (and a reasonable one at that). Time for Manny to do his part. Fair is fair.

  • After Clottey, Arum STILL insists on pushing BS fights down our throats!!!?

    http://espn.go.com/sports/boxing/blog/_/name/rafae...

No mention of Berto (25-0), Bradley (25-0), or Alexander (20-0) or Mosley if he were to lose by decision to Mayweather.

    Arum's suggestions: Valero (27-0), Margarito (44-6), Marquez (50-5-1)

Such a glaring discrepancy! ALL HISPANIC FIGHTERS. No African American fighters. I don't think this was by accident!!!

I see team Pacquiao leaving the negotiations table at the slightest disagreement in favor of one of the easier opponents proposed by Arum. Just you wait!

    5 AnswersBoxing1 decade ago
  • Which would be a tougher fight for Manny, Shane coming off a decision loss to Mayweather or Edwin Valero?

Assuming Mayweather wins and negotiations with Pac can't be made.

1)Which fighter do you think would pose the greatest threat to Manny? I pick Mosley.

    2) I find it interesting that there were no mentions of Mosley in the list of alternatives for Mayweather..... not even Berto OR Bradley who are also undefeated and have faced better opposition than Valero? Why was Valero selected over these more popular fighters? What do you think?

    11 AnswersBoxing1 decade ago
  • Manny just fought a DUD in Clottey...... now Valero??? BOOOOOOO!!!!!!!?

Freddie Roach stated that if they can't come to a deal with Mayweather, they'll fight Valero. I've seen Valero fight, and just like Clottey, he has NO BUSINESS fighting Pacquiao. Manny's next fight should be Mayweather OR Mosley, preferably the winner, but it really doesn't matter as MOST of Pac's recent opponents were coming off of losses anyway. WHY WASN'T MOSLEY MENTIONED? Mosley OR Mayweather coming off a loss is still more of a challenge than freakin Valero!!!! ARE THEY SERIOUS???? I think we have another "Pac/Clottey" in the making folks. Why do people insist on denying the fact that Pac shies away from African American fighters? I just don't see how beating a Valero adds anything to Manny's legacy. Manny needs to fight one of the ELITE boxers, especially after disappointing the entire boxing world by choosing to fight the Grand "Peek-a-boo" Master Clottey (I called this fight a joke from the start). He owes the fans at least that.

  • If Pac would have submitted to randon testing, would Floyd have placed any other stipulations on the fight?

I just don't get why all of the pressure is being placed on Floyd. First of all, both sides have placed stipulations on the fight, second Manny's excuse for denying testing is pretty lame, and third I highly doubt Floyd would ask for anything else or "make excuses" as many like to put it. I would really like to see Manny pull Floyd's card (i.e. take the testing) on this one, then well see if Mayweather is as "scared" as most claim him to be.

    7 AnswersBoxing1 decade ago
  • Pacquiao supporters....do YOU believe random blood testing would have any effect on Manny's performance?

Manny and Roach proclaim to the world how "eager" they are to get in the ring with Floyd, but their actions suggest otherwise. The main two reasons as to why they declined the testing were:

    1) It will weaken Manny and his fighting capability will be compromised........Ask yourselves how valid a response this is, that's all I'm asking....ESPECIALLY given the fact that Manny is just "licking his chops" to get at Floyd.

    2) Its not Floyd's place to dictate what the rules are........which I totally agree with. MY PROBLEM is that if Manny were so eager to fight Floyd (as Mosley is), why not just take the test and fight? Manny can't be THAT eager if he's gonna let a couple of blood tests stop him, that's all I'm saying. Floyd agreed to their proposals, so why can't they agree to his especially when he's taking the same tests?

Just take a minute and think it out. IS Manny REALLY trying to fight Mayweather, OR is he a little hesitant? If Manny simply agreed to the testing, Floyd would be pushed into a corner and he would have to fight without any other stipulations. THAT is the mindset of someone who is EAGER. If Floyd came up with some other stipulation/excuse he'd be shunned by nearly everyone including his fans. Roach and Manny know this, but for some reason they don't want to force Floyd's hand. Again, ask yourself if the reasons Manny gave are enough to deter an EAGER (keyword) fighter from getting in the ring.

  • So you want Mayweather/Pacquiao?

This is the fight everyone wants to see. Since Floyd is busy dealing with Shane, there is a large window of opportunity for Pac's managers to schedule another lame opponent for him thereby delaying the process even further. I urge EVERYONE to boycott ALL fight proposals other than Mayweather, then we'll get to see a REAL fight. Also, Margarito needs to sit his cheatin azz down and STFU with all his talk as to why he should be Manny's next opponent.

  • So Clottey did NOTHING??? Why are you surprised?

I just don't get it. Why are people acting so surprised that Clottey basically played peek-a-boo with Manny for the whole fight. This is Clottey we're talking about, NOT Aaron Pryor. This fight should have been boycotted and BOOOOed into cancellation, but people insisted that Clottey was such a threat. He's big and can take a punch and has good defense.......you see what type of fight that got you? I have no interest in seeing Manny beat up slow mummies anymore. Fight Mosley or Mayweather otherwise hang up the gloves Manny. So to all people who supported this disgrace of a fight....don't you think its about time for Manny to face "THE OTHER" elite boxers out there?

  • Shane? Washed up? I bet he'd beat the crap out of Pac or Clottey!!!!!!!!?

I just don't get how people can say Shane is washed up after his amazing performance (even if it is a year later), yet they were the SAME people praising Pac for beating an old, dried up De la Hoya. WTF?????? Would Floyd get MORE credit for fighting Clottey? I THINK NOT!!!! People have been begging for this fight. The two reasons they try to downplay Shane is 1, Floyd is in competition with Manny/Clottey and they want to make it seem as if Clottey is somehow as hard of an opponent as Shane. If you don't think Shane would beat Pac or Clottey, you're delusional. Im just glad Floyd isn't fighting Clottey and Manny is fighting Shane cuz if that were the case everyone would paint Pac as the fearless warrior who fought the guy Mayweather was "scared" of. After Manny whips Clottey's azz, he has only two real choices in my opinion: Shane or Mayweather. Sadly, I doubt he'll fight either.

  • Sit down Freddie!!!!!?

Now that I think about it, why the hell is Roach talking all this BS about "winner take all". If you want to fight Floyd you know what you gotta do plain and simple. Do you people really believe that Arum will allow Roach to pi$$ away his money like that? Its obvious they want to fight Floyd, so just take the test already and cut the BS. Its the easiest solution, but for some reason team Pacquiao likes to complicate things.

  • What would people say if Floyd was fighting Clottey?

Would Clottey be portrayed like he is now (tough, indestructible, and dangerous)? OR would people ridicule Floyd for fighting a B+ fighter that just lost to Cotto? I pick the latter.
