How do I declare that college was paid for by internship (taxes)?
I am interning at a fire station that pays for all my schooling and books in exchange for 60 hours a week at the station. I am not an employee. When entering information for how my schooling was paid for, do I call it a fellowship? Or a grant? Ideas?

My roommate was shaking a sharpie and now there's splatters of black sharpie on my MacBook screen. Any way to get it off with no damage to the screen?
4 AnswersMonitors10 years agoInternet doesn't always work on MacBook Pro?
Sometimes when I open Safari, Firefox or Internet Explorer on my new Macbook Pro it won't connect to the Internet right away. If I keep trying different webpages or close it and reopen it several times it works eventually. Networks diagnostics says there's no issue and my Internet connection is fine, on other laptops as well. Ideas?
1 AnswerOther - Internet10 years agoDog has diarrhea and is throwing up?
My two-year-old German Shepherd threw up once last night and has had really bad diarrhea for the past 12 hours or so. He still scarfed down his breakfast and is drinking water, however. We're staying at a friend's house and there's lots of foreign things he could've eaten (including a bunch of cat litter.) Vet worthy or wait it out a bit?
7 AnswersDogs10 years agoHaving my dog off leash in neighborhood?
I'm not looking for a lecture. I have an "electronic leash" and a dog that with or without a leash will not leave my side when I tell him to heel. He doesn't bark, charge, chase, nothing. I had a rude old man start shouting profanities at me and citing (from what I can tell) non-existent leash laws. I know Oregon doesn't have state wide leash laws and I can't find laws in our county (Josephine County). I live on a very quiet loop in a rural area. Any idea what the real law is?
4 AnswersDogs10 years agoHealing over monroe piercing?
I got a monroe piercing about a week ago. At first I had a longer bar in and it was fine but the swelling went down after four days so I had the piercer change it. It was obviously too soon so she had to mess with it for like ten minutes and practically re-pierce it. It's a little red and swollen but not too bad. The only issue is that the last two mornings my skin has healed almost completely over the top of the new piercing. I have to push it through a little and ice ice ice and take ibuprofen then it's fine all day again. I can't change it back to a longer bar because it's too irritated. I'm cleaning it properly (but not over cleaning) and doing everything right. Just wondering if I should take it out? Or does anyone think this healing over the top will stop when the swelling's down a bit more? Advice? Thanks
3 AnswersOther - Skin & Body1 decade agoQuestion about bone mineral density? (A&P)?
I'm in anatomy and physiology and I'm writing a case study about a women diagnosed with osteopenia and her options. My first question is why would BMD change in one region but not another? The patient's T-score deviated to -2.3 in the lumbar vertebra but has consistently been -.4 in the hip for four years. Any ideas?
Also her options are to; 1. do nothing 2. take estrogen short term 3. take a biphosphate or 4. take SERM's. The first question is more important but if someone has a fantastic reason for the patient to take one of the options that's great too.
1 AnswerHomework Help1 decade agoDrug testing at work?

5 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoActually scary movies?
I would love to find some movies that will actually scare me. Not necessarily disturbing like The Hills Have Eyes, nothing scary about that. I don't care if it's scifi scary or just murder/horror. The Descent was probably the scariest movie I've seen but I can't remember the last time I was terrified. Sh** that'll make me jump is good. I want nightmares! I've seen The Ring and The Grudge and older horror movies like The Exorcist and Halloween don't scare me. And no subtitles, my boyfriend refuses to read. Suggestions? Thanks!
9 AnswersMovies1 decade agoMaking dog and kitten get along?
My roommate has an eleven week old kitten who's been with us for a month and I recently adopted an eleven month old German Shepherd. We've slowly been introducing them. Making the dog sit and having them smell each other, rolling the dog on his back in a submissive position with the kitten near by etc. We're still pretty sure my dog would eat the kitten if given the chance. If the cat runs, the dog goes after him (of course) ad he's tried to bite him twice with us holding him. Does anyone have any tips on socializing the two and having them get along? Thanks

4 AnswersDogs1 decade agoShould I get a dog? (College Student)?
I have been seriously considering getting a dog for over a year. I decided a couple weeks ago that I was going to and have found a couple of great dogs I'm deciding between. I'm also continuing to look around in the mean time. Anyway I am a sophomore in college. I live on two acres in a rural area. I only attend classes eight hours a week and I work on a ranch where I can bring my dog. Basically, the dog will have very little alone time. I am a runner and hike and go to the river and horseback riding often so I know I'm active enough. I also don;t plan on moving, never to a dorm and I think it won't be a huge issue finding places where I can bring my dog if ever I do decide to move. I use to do obedience classes with the family wolf hybrid so I'm experienced enough I believe. I don't ever get an animal with the intention of selling of course. I have a horse and haven't had any issues keeping, affording and moving him. Have any other college students felt stable and got a dog to later find it was a bad idea? Is this a bad age or...? I don't care if you're 100% against college student owning dogs and want to yell at me, I still want opinions.
Also, what breed will be best for me? I want a dog active enough to keep up with my lifestyle. I like medium to larger breeds with shorter or medium hair. I want a dog that is loyal to its one alpha and that I may be able to do personal protection obedience classes with ( so no pussy breeds.) And what breeds tend to do best with off leash training? So no hounds or huskies (right?)
Thanks, hope someone takes the time to read this book.

1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)1 decade agoStarting an older Peruvian Paso mare?
My friend bought a 14 year old Peruvian Paso mare a year ago for her awesome bloodlines. She is extremely under socialized, before she came to us she had basically never seen a human. My friend has been working on breeding her for a year but just discovered she can't be bred. Everyone's voting to put her down because she can't be sold as a broodmare and is "dangerous" and barely halter broken. Even if she's given away she will most likely end up hurting someone or stuck in a pasture somewhere not getting the proper care.
Anyway, I have only worked with the mare for a week and she's now halter broke, backs, moves of pressure etc but she will still cow kick anyone other than me. She's a Peruvian so she's very skittish and awesome at sneaking in a kick when you least expect it. I have one month to get her green broke or she'll be put down. Any advice form people with experience with either difficult, under socialized horses or hot Peruvians? Should I start her like any other QH or TB colt or take another approach? I've earned her trust for the most part and luckily she's a good size for me but I've never worked with such a fearful horse is such a short amount of time. Thanks a bunch!
3 AnswersHorses1 decade agoBucking and rearing issues?
I have a four year old thoroughbred gelding off the track (never raced.) I started him and have put a lot of training on him and leased him to an "experienced" dressage rider for two months while I took some time to save money in order to keep him. Before I get ridiculed, this woman was a former 4th level dressage trainer and I watched her work with him a few times before I let her take him on a free lease. My horse is sound and while slightly green is very safe, will w/t/c, leg yield, get on the bit etc. I thought it would be a perfect arrangement since he would basically be getting free training.
He's perfectly fat and happy but has picked up some bad habits. I broke him of his "happy bucking" habit when I first got him and while I had him he never bucked, reared or bolted. Now when I take him on trails or to open spaces and ask him to canter he bucks like a mad man. Pushing him through it doesn't work and his bucks are...big. I have pulled him up, pulled his head up and simply stopped him with forceful pressure but never excessive. However that's backfired and now when he bucks and I apply slight pressure on his mouth he halts and rears, then it becomes a rear buck limbo. I definitely caused the rearing when I pulled him up. When he bucks it's not pain, it's just excitement, the rearing and the aftermath of our battle is frustration. He'll trot out and sometimes I'll get him to canter on quietly, even get in half seat and let him hand gallop but a lot of the time we'll get in this dangerous battle. I lunge the **** out of him beforehand occasionally but nothing seems to work. I do colt starting and am a three day eventer but none of my techniques are working and we're both starting to get pissed at each other so I would greatly appreciate any advice!
5 AnswersHorses1 decade agoShot a goat and it kept moving?
I've never seen an animal killed before and I'm concerned. This goat was suffering and couldn't be saved so we had to shoot it fyi everyone.
The man who shot him is an experienced...goat killer, I know this sounds awful. And knows where to shoot it in the back of the head. He told me to expect to see it move because of nerves after it was shot.
Anyway, he shot it, it fell to the ground and was mostly still but then it's tail started switched and it bleated a couple of times. I told him to shoot it again so he did, then it's legs started moving rapidly like it was running. Everyone else was positive it was dead and maybe I'm just being a girl I just want assurance that it didn't suffer. Or am I right?
5 AnswersOther - Pets1 decade agoBeginning essay with quote and citing the source?
I want to start my essay with a quote from a movie. I usually would do this:
"All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream." -Edgar Allen Poe
Blatiblahtiblah...
But what if it's a line from a movie? Would I go:
"It's hard to imagine what it's like to lose your sanity." -Back from Madness (In italics?)
Thanks

8 AnswersHorses1 decade agoHow much is my thoroughbred worth?
Yes, yes I know it's hard to say without seeing his conformation and how he moves, a huge guess is fine. He was foaled May 2006, jockey club registered, never raced, out of Aplaceinthesun, by Larry the Legend. 16.2, chestnut, sound, long legs and pasterns, great feet. Some professional eventing training but he's green. Schooling about 3', getting on the bit, beginning leg yields. Super quiet and willing, would never guess he's a baby tb. He has a roman nose (it bothers some people, don't know why.) Any ball park guesses? Thanks!
