8 month old lab pup, has been to vet 4 times, emergency vet this morning. They cannot find anything on X-rays or in blood tests but puppy still vomits up all his food within 5 minutes after eating. Has been given anti nausea shot and meds working some, pup can eat 1 ounce of food no vomit. Water goes down fine and stays down. Next will be exploratory surgery. On vet formula canned easy digest pup food. Any suggestions?

  • Need help finding a specialty harness for a dog.?

I need to find a harness to assist a friend in walking with her service dog, We are looking for the type that is similar to a guide dog harness but has longer extensions for her to be able to reach the dog easily.

The dog is not supporting weight as much as it assists with her going forward (gait problems). Her old harness has finally worn out, the company that made the harness has gone out of business. (Former saddlery and harness maker) There is no handicapped online website to contact and anything we find in the stores on line are all for backpacking or drafting work. We tried a different saddlemaker and because of copyright problems they refuse to repair or make a new one from the old pattern. They don't want to get into trouble.

Please help post any ideas or leads you may have, everything is very much appreciated. We even went the route of the school that trained her dog and they don't have any ideas to help us, they had someone that had ordered and donated the harness originally for her first dog and have long ago moved on with no contact information.

Think you everybody for your help!

  • Saying goodbye to our dog?

We discovered our service dog Goldie had internal cancer 3 weeks ago and this had been missed by a lot of testing 4 weeks ago and a lot of blood work and hands on by our vet. I have not been able to come to terms with what had happened so fast and the fact it had been missed by so many professionals.

My surviving lab Berths is out of sorts and has been looking out e window for Goldie and has been mopping around the house like a rag doll, throwing herself down on the floor. I m not sure I I should bring her brother over to perk her up for a while or just let her be.

I have taken a little extra time for longer walks and some good grooming time, she loves being brushed and would live with one attached to her if she could.

I m not sure if I should just let her work things out or keep paying more attention to her. She has already taken Goldie s place up on my bed and has been asking me if it s okay for her to be in my room. (

  • Digital camera question?

I know this isn't the right place but it's the closest I can think of.

Question is if I buy a new digital camera that takes a cannon mount, can in use my old lenses on the new camera? Are they compatible? I have asked the delinquents that work at the places that sell the digital cannons and they have a no clue.

I know it would be easiest getting a whole new camera however I have over 10k in lenses, filters etc for my camera, dad was I to photography (semi pro) and I didn't get into it all that much. I'm semi retired now and have the time to deal with it, the 35mm part works great but I love the convineance of digital. Yes I'm lazy and I would to call it cheep but I can't see throwing away a good camera.

I'm catching up on years and years of pictures and want to get going before summer hits.

Thanks everyone. If you know a better place to post let me know. I'm still new to this site.

  • Senior dog with post surgical issues?

My 13 year old yellow lab under went cancer surgery 2 weeks ago, had a smaller tumor removed and outlook excellent for her age etc. I spoke to the vet about putting her down because of the cancer and arthritis, he said for an old girl she is in excellent health just slower and a bit arthritic from natural wear and tear.

I want to do right by her since she has given me so many years of support and love she is unconditionally loved and the best friend that I ever had, she spent a year at my bedside while I was so sick and patiently waited for me to wake up.

My problem is I don't want her to suffer and I know her day is coming up sooner rather than later. She is on antiinflammatories and tramadol for both postop pain as well as arthritis. She does get around pretty good and when outside she runs through the yard so you can't tell she is even arthritic. She comes to me panting heavy and unsettled a lot. I'm not sure if she is reacting to my illness or she is in pain. I give her pain meds and it doesn't seem to make much difference....

Today when my nurse was here I noticed she stopped panting and laid down outside my door and slept peacefully. She was fine for a couple hours after the nurse left and did well until I started moving around in my wheelchair, she became stressed and started the panting once again. My roommate tells me she is fine when she's in the room with her and sleeps quietly. She doesn't whine or stress... It seems she saves this behavior for me. I'm having trouble trying to decide if I'm stressing her out or she is in pain. When she is panting and stressing she keeps bringing me toys and trys to interact until I lay down. She then comes up on bed and will put her muzzle in my hand and watch over me.

I watched a friend let her dog stay home and suffer for 2 long weeks before he passed. I'm still upset by what she did to Buddy, I really don't want my girl to have the same end. She isn't crying in pain but does have tear stains in her eyes since the surgery or if he pain meds have been missed by several hours. She is at a good weight, is very playful and has a good appetite. She loves going outside with out other dog to play and gets all rowdy with him.

Am I being selfish not demanding the vet put her down? We had a lot of preop tests done and other than the tumor in a bad place and her arthritis the vet says she is fit... Just old and getting slow. He thinks its unfair that I put her down without giving her a chance of with the meds.

I know you guys can't decide for me and it is my descicion. I just have never had an older dog like her, all my dogs hav been under 20 pounds and have lived until their early 20's. They went deaf and blind but not arthritic or cancer. Is this normal for a larger dog? Am I stressing her because I'm so worried? Normal post op stress for the dog?

    Thank you for helping.
