  • What should I do about my girlfriend?

So me and my girlfriend have been together for 5 months now. I think we're doing really well and everybody seems to think we are a great couple and I think we are as well, we always like spending time with each other.

The problem is we are both in our last year at university and the amount of time we need to put in is pretty immense. And between that, my part-time job and seeing her, I barely have any time left to do work for uni outside of class.

I don't think we should spend as much time together as we do, and we've tried spending less time together, but we end up missing each other, which in itself is distracting when I'm doing work. I really don't know what to do... I like her a lot, but it feels like I should break up with her for the sake of the both of us, but I don't know if I have it in me to let her go just like that.

What would you do in my possition?

  • I need statistics: Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy?

I need to know what you guys think about it. Please specify if you've read the original book, seen the 2005 film and seen the original BBC series from the 80's.

Now to the questions: did you prefer the film or the original series (if you've watched it)? Why? What about the clips from the guide, which did you find funnier? And what did you think about Stephen Fry's voice as the guide, was it a good choice?

    Thanks

  • Any similar feel-good rock songs?

    Hey guys,

I'm in a bit of a weird mood right now and I'm looking for some feel-good rock songs. To give you a quick example, at the moment I'm listening to Naive Orleans by Anberlin (even though it's fairly old). I'd prefer it if the songs weren't released more than 10 or so years ago and I'm referring to the kind of rock songs you hear in the background in those teenage life films like American Pie. So... can you give me a few examples?

I know it's a lot to ask for, but I'm really picky when it comes to music ;)

    Thanks

  • How do I practice assembly code?

I'm starting assembly at uni as of next year, but I would like to learn it well in advance. I've found resources that would take me through the basics. However, I want to have a go at doing it myself without running the risk of messing up my machine if I get it wrong. Is there any piece of software or something that will allow me to simulate assembly programming without it having a direct effect on my computer?

  • What is the transistor count in the ARM Cortex A9?

I would like to know the transistor count for this processor, if possible the number of transistors per core, but any info will help. I have researched over the internet and I can't seem to find this anywhere. I would research in books as well but my local library doesn't have books which hace been written after 2007.

    Thanks for your help!

  • PC Adventure games like...?

I'm looking for some games along the lines of Jak 2, Rachet and Clank or Whiplash, but I need them to be for PC, since I can't use my PS2 right now, so if anyone has some nice PC alternatives it would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • Why is the centre of the Earth hot?

One thing I never understood is how can something so hot as magma be liquid... and also, from my knowledge of physics, if you put a very cold object and a very hot one together, the hot one will cool down and the other will warm up, both reaching a balanced temperature in the end. Isn't empty space really cold?

If anyone could explain, I would appreciate it.

    Thanks!

  • Why do I feel this way?

One of my friends who is from Sweden just went home tonight, and I don't think she will ever come back. And for some reason, the moment she walked out the door I started crying. Yet when I moved last year and left all of my other friends behind, I didn't feel half as bad as I do now that she left, I didn't cry at all.

I never even thought that I would cry tonight, but the minute she left, I just couldn't help it. I do care about her alot, but I didn't think I might have some other feelings for her, apart from friendship. Now I'm not that sure. It feels like a big part of me left with her, and it hurts.

It's such a weird mixture of feelings, I was sad that she had to leave, yet at the same time I was happy for her, she was missing her family so much, and she really wanted to go home. And to make it even worse, she cried as well.

Now I feel that there are a lot of things I didn't have the chance to say...

  • Where is the spell-chekcer?

Really, I just got back after 2 months and realised that the mighty spell-checker is missing... that's not right. Is it really missing or am I just blind?

  • It's my birthday, wanna come to the party?

So I'm 18 today... 18th of June. Guess that means it's my golden birthday, right?

I'm wondering if I should be happy or not, the thought of growing up isn't what I need right now. Anyway, that's a matter for another day. Today, it's party time! :)

I'm throwing a huge party at my place, if you want to show up, be my guest. Presents are not needed, but appreciated, and you have to have one if you want to join the party ;) I promise you'll enjoy it!

  • How rare are white pigeons?

I was just wondering what percentage of pigeons are white. I have just seen one today and it got me thinking! :)

By the way, this has nothing to do with racism, just to let people know.

    Thank you!
