I am 36 weeks pregnant with our 2nd child, but our 1st boy. My husband is Michael Jr. and he wants to name his son Michael III and I don't. I am trying to meet him halfway and tell him he can have the middle name be either Michael or Allen (his middle name), but he is adamant. However, I am not giving in.

After trying to discuss this with him reasonably, he became so irate he told me he would refuse to sign the birth certificate and also told me he would divorce me if we didn't name our son Michael (he even went so far as to tell me I could give him "his" ring back and move out right away!)!!!!

I'm at a complete loss. I don't want to choose the name by myself, I want a name that will work for both of us, but he refuses absolutely everything but Michael Allen J______III.

When I was pregnant with our daughter, we NEVER discussed the name Michael as a possibility for a boy name, so I'm totally taken aback by this. He claims this has been important to him all his life, but if it was, wouldn't he have at least mentioned it when I was pregnant with our first child???

It's not like my name choices are awful. I narrowed it down to 6 possibilities. They are:

-Max

-Riley

-Rex

-Roscoe

-Tyce

-Reece

Not names you hear everyday (except maybe Max and Riley), but our last name is super common, so I wanted something that would stand out a little (but not super crazy).

Any advice? Has anyone had this big of an argument over a name? I would like input on the names, but I am also wanting advice on how to handle the situation with my husband. Like I said before, I'm at a complete loss....

My first choices are:

Kyra Lucille (girl)

Roscoe Allen (boy)

I am 5 weeks pregnant, and just found a wonderful midwife to help me with my prenatal care. She delivers babies at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN (a suburb of Minneapolis). I have never been there. If anyone has given birth there, could you share your experience with me?

I am fully aware that Methodist Hospital is the location where a surgeon removed the wrong kidney from a patient. I am not looking for feedback regarding that, only real experience from women who gave birth there.
