  • College questions...?

I am thinking of quitting my job to attend school during the summer. Also, because I will go postal if I work there any longer. I received a Pell Grant for the Spring and Summer (not in full because I didn't go full-time during this Spring Semester), with a BOGG Fee Waiver.

In Fall, can I get financial aid money for a 3rd time? If not Pell Grant, how do college loans work?

  • Will I get my money back from the bank?

Earlier today, I went onto a Bank of America ATM. I withdrew $40 using a Quick Cash $40 button on the screen. It did not respond whatsoever to the first time I touched the screen, so I pressed it again. Out came $40, for which I did not take a receipt, thinking I would not have had reason to.

Later in the day, I checked my account through online banking and the $40 I withdrew was charged twice to my card.

Is there any way Bank of America can give me back my money?

  • Good NHL teams that are boring to watch for non-fans?

The Canucks play a boring defensive style game. Zzzzzz...The Blackhawks are pretty boring as well. What say you?

    B. Mon. vs. Bos every single game

    C. Ditto for Pittsburgh-New York

    D. The Ducks consecutive last-minute goals/OT wins

    E. Teemu Selanne at age 40

    F. The Kings-Ducks final 2 games

    G. Mike Smith attempting to score a goal

    H.Jacques Lemaire return period

    I. TOR dying in the waning moments of the season after a late-season run

    J. The Rocket Richard not bearing the name(s) Crosby, Ovechkin or Stamkos (fan of each player, mind you)

    K. The battles on the last day of the season

  • Which Masterton Trophy nominee do you think most deserves the award?

(non-homer) My pick is Ray Emery. It's out of a movie that a goalie has an incomprehensibly difficult surgery, comes back after a year, and leads a team to the playoffs by winning 6 straight (lost 2 since then, but played well in those losses). He re-aggravated the injury and he, as well as Hiller, remain mysteries as to if they will ever play again.

  • Which NHL cities are the most hostile towards fans of opposing or non-local teams?

I'm a Ducks fan, long time, even in the losing days...and I've pondered life in Canada. I've never delved into violence, but my vision is getting attacked up there in Canada especially given the fandom of a one-time-Mickey Mouse club and that team's encroachment on NHL tradition.

In which NHL cities would I most likely have to fight off other passionate hockey fans?

  • Is the popularity of hockey in Canada exaggerated?

The media here in America, the little that features hockey, depicts Canada as two things crazed: beer and hockey. Canadian hockey fans are depicted as as hockey nuts who consider playoff tickets a ticket to Paradise.

I've heard that lacrosse is actually more popular, as is football fandom.

So is hockey a national obsession, a past-time in some places, or just a game who's following is mostly limited to NHL cities?

  • Are the Ducks choking out of the playoffs?

With a chance to definitely clinch a playoff spot, they're now forced to win maybe at least 2 of their final 3 games, against opponents they do NOT play well against. In the last 2 meetings with DAL, of whom they most needed to win in regulation against in both cases, they win in OT the first time, which would have been ok had they won yesterday. Instead, they lost in regulation. They lost to the Sharks prior to that. They've historically not been good against the Sharks or Kings (aside from the '09 playoff series).

If the Ducks blow what should have been a near certain playoff spot, do you count this is a choke?

  • Unusual all day hangover?

I came home after social drinking (no anti-alcohol lectures, please), and I thought I had a reasonable amount to get a little drunk and feel good.

I came home and threw up at 4 a.m. Continuously, all day I had shakes, diarrhea but no vomit.

I felt near normal between 4-8 P.M. Now my symptoms are resurfacing. Why did my hangover disappear for a brief time just to end up returning and can I flush the alcohol in my system without vomiting?

  • How does "playoff experience" manifest itself in the game?

It's hard to explain, but, rephrased as best as possible:

Can anyone speculate what tangibles playoff experience provides?

I'm essentially wondering what a playoff experienced veteran-type of play is, as opposed to a playoff newb type of play, i.e., does a guy with a lot of post-season under his belt make this kind of pass, or go to that part of the ice...?

  • Have NHL fans gone Maude Flanders-ish?

Maude Flanders gone wild in the NHL's fan base?

Is it true, false, or am I just crazy:

Cheap shots are NOT new to the game of hockey. The only difference is how much exposure each incident gets, due to rises in the media and technology.

Have fans gotten overzealous in declaring the wild, brawl-filled and stick-swinging days of previous decades innocent compared to today's NHL?

Because of replay, various blogs, and youtube, it seems to me that the kinds of things players got away with way long ago today are at the forefront of scrutiny JUST BECAUSE we can see things happen better than ever.

  • Why are tsunami-related waves going to hit California?

If a tsunami penetrated Japan, and the water was going in the direction of the interior of Japan, then why would waves spread out and hit the rest of the Pacific?

  • Didn't the following happen after a Bruins-Canadien playoff series?

I can vaguely recall a newspaper article about a fan being beaten following the deciding game in one of the teams' recent playoff meetings.

Didn't something along these lines happen?

  • Multiple questions regarding hockey?

    A) Where is a custom t-shirt website in which one can make a t-shirt replica of a team's jersey with a player's name? For ex.: I want to custom a t-shirt to look like the Devils red and green jerseys, with a name on the back.

    B) At ice rinks that have public ice skating, can I somehow get the rental skates sharpened?

    C) When did the NHL change the goalie crease size and for what purposes?

  • Aren't those GameCenter Live commercials just such an atrocity?

I refer to the "Ovechtrick" and "Beard Gets Assist" commercials.

Humor in commercials are great: The commercial itself should not be such an embarrassment that it becomes a joke in itself.

What say you? Another ugly pimple on the face of the NHL?

  • Which NHL team has the best/most effective 4th line?

The criteria for this question is pretty open:

Describe what you think is the best 4th line either due to grinding/scoring and/or the intangibles (pestering opponents, wearing down opponents, etc.).

  • Why is there so much hate/dislike/disbelief for Jimmy Howard?

Yeah, statistically, he's not one of the best goaltenders aside from his domination in the Wins column.

But isn't he like an Osgood? Maybe not the flashiest or statistically utterly mind-blowing in the regular season, but silently strong enough in net to get the team some wins.

    I believe in Howard!

  • From an offensive standpoint, who formed the best winger/defensemen duos in League history?

Earlier today, I was watching a special on 70 goal scorers in the NHL, and eventually the "Hull and Oates" line came up. Every other scoring duo were generally winger/center.

Are there any other great duos of winger/defensemen in NHL history?
