When someone sells your book "new" on Amazon for cheaper...?
I see my book being sold by people on Amazon for "new" for much cheaper than the book rate. If they aren't buying my book from my printing company, how are they able to do this?
2 AnswersBooks & Authors6 years agoA question for indie authors about film companies?
I wrote my first book and am doing the marketing. I've reached out to radio stations, English teachers, film companies, etc. I have had a few (small film companies) said they would be interested in reading my book for a submission. If they like it, what should I expect? I mean I still control the rights of it, right?
3 AnswersBooks & Authors6 years agoA question for independent authors. Is there a free program to make your PDF into an epub?
I want to convert my PDF into an epub without paying someone hundreds of dollars to do it. Anyone know how?
3 AnswersBooks & Authors6 years agoDoes anyone know how to customize page numbers for their books?
I am using Word, and think I have the '08 version. I want page 1 to start on Chapter 1 and the last page to end on the last page of the last chapter. All those other pages, like title page, etc I don't want to have a page number. But I don't know how to start the page numbers on Chapter 1
2 AnswersProgramming & Design6 years agoDoes anyone know how to customize page numbers in a Word document?
I am doing a book and need to customize the page numbers to start Chapter 1 and end on the last page of the last Chapter. All those other blank pages, etc don't need page numbers. I think I have Microsoft 2008
2 AnswersSoftware6 years agoDoes anyone know how to customize page numbers when doing a book?
I am trying to get page 1 to start on Chapter 1 but I don't know how to customize page numbers to start and end where I want it to. Obviously I have pages before Chapter 1, but I don't want them numbered.
2 AnswersSoftware6 years agoA question for self publishers - what software do you use to create the interior of your book?
I keep making changes to the interior of my book, and I am using a designer which is starting to cost way more money than I planned. Isn't there a software I can use myself to designer the interior and then put it into the correct file format to upload to places like Ingram Spark or CreateSpace?
3 AnswersBooks & Authors6 years agoDoes anyone know if an independent author can change their sale date after the initial sale date has passed?
I recently released my book, it's on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. I want to make changes to the book, so I need to "unrelease" it? Can you do that? Like change the sale date, then the book is there being advertised but on hold cause it can't be bought? This is my first book, so this is definitely a learning process.
1 AnswerBooks & Authors6 years agoa question for self publishers of books...?
What is the difference between the publication date and sale date. I mean it does seem obvious but I wanted to make sure my book isn't available to buy on my publication date.
2 AnswersBooks & Authors6 years agoI am a new author and made an amateur error. Any feedback to help me not feel too bad about it...?
I wrote my first book, edited, edited and edited it again. Finally happy with it, I had it designed and published and got a copy of it today in the mail. My error was this: I didn't put any icons such as **** or ~~~~ to break up scenes within a chapter. So, it kind of causes the reader to be like "huh? Oh okay it's a new scene." It would cost me hundreds of dollars to go back and correct it, and tons of time again. Am I over reacting? I know it's a bad error, but is it as bad as I am making it?
4 AnswersBooks & Authors6 years agoA question for authors who have printed books?
I am a first time author. I self published and used a designer. In the PDF file he sent the last page was 180. He said the "LSI is 182". Well, I got copies of my book today, and the last page in the book is 172. Am I missing 10 pages in print?
2 AnswersBooks & Authors6 years agoA question for authors?
Have you ever self published or had your book published and then thought of new ideas to add to your book? I sat on my book once it was completed, then felt ready to publish it and now that it's published I keep thinking of new things I could have added to it. Just trying to see if I'm not alone in that.
2 AnswersBooks & Authors6 years agoI wrote my first book.?
I self published my first book. It has a Christian theme, and I'm trying to find a resource tool of who I should send copies out to. People have told me radio stations and book stores, but I'm looking for exact names or a link that will take me to a good list of companies/people. I know my local contacts, but want to expand.
4 AnswersBooks & Authors6 years agoAny tips to market a Christian book?
I just finished and self published my first novel, it's a fiction novel with a Christian theme. Now, I don't know how to market it. I bought some copies to send out to people, but have no idea who. I don't want to waste mailing a book out to someone if it's the wrong contact.
7 AnswersBooks & Authors6 years agoWhat happens when you send your book to a film production company?
I have a book that I wrote and published that I'd like to get people to read. Of course, I'd like it to be considered for a movie, but really I'd like to just get it out there. If I mail my book to film production companies that specifically state "we do not accept submissions", what are the risks I am taking? For example, can they make a movie out of my book and not give me credit?
