  • The name of this book?

I'm trying to remember the name of a book i red back in middle school. Now this was 10 or 11 years ago so I might have some details wrong, but this is what I remember:

-It was about a society where everyone wore masks

-The main character was a trouble maker

-To try to teach him why the masks they all wore were important, the community leaders strapped him in some machine that made him relive the prejudice of the past (I think it was antisemitism specifically)

-The "lesson" didn't have the intended effect, and the kid decided that it was better for people to accept each others differences rather than hide them

-I think "take off your mask" or something similar was one of the last lines of the book

I'd appreciate it if anyone can tell me the name of this book.

  • Printing and scoring on cardboard/card stock?

Frequently things like Dungeons and Dragons terrain tiles come on sheets of nice cardboard or card stock, scored or perforated so that the pieces can be punched out for use.

I'm probably not explaining this very well, so here's a photo for reference: http://i.imgur.com/zSnxVjU.jpg The pieces are punched out of the card stock, which has printing on both sides.

Are there any consumer-level printing services that offer the ability to print on heavy cardboard/card stock and provide cutting/scoring services like this?

  • 3DS not detecting wifi networks?

My 3DS has suddenly stopped connecting to my wifi network. If I try to "search for an access point," none are found. If I manually enter the router details, it fails to connect and gives me an error telling me that it couldn't communicate with the router. I've tried with 2 different networks, and it can't find either one. The wifi switch is turned on, and I tried it in both positions to be safe. My Wii and laptop can connect to the network just fine.

I don't know when exactly the issue started, because last night (when I first discovered the problem) was the first time I attempted to connect my 3DS to the internet in over a month. I noticed that when I tried to check the MAC address of the 3DS, it was listed as 00-00-00-00-00-00. I assume that this is in some way related to the problem.

Googling around, I found a couple people with the same problem, but none of them ever followed up with solutions.

Is there any way I can get my 3DS to connect to the internet, or do I just need to call Nintendo tech support?

  • Blender multires question?

In older versions of Blender, I was able to use edit mode at any stage of multi-resolution to modify the model. However, in the newest version, I can't figure out how to do that. I can only get sculpt mode to work with multires; edit mode only works on the lowest-resolution version. Is it possible to get edit mode to work on higher levels? If so, how?

  • How can I stop Mac OS from doing this?

So I've got a Macbook Pro, and I plugged my 3DS's SD card into the card reader to upload some photos I took. Later when I went to do the same thing on my Windows computer, I discovered that the Mac had put a few hidden files on the SD card, including a hidden folder called ".Trashes."

Is there a way to disable this feature, or at least have it remove the hidden folders when I eject the card?

  • Change Pokemon Black registered DS?

In Pokemon Black, to use the WiFi features, I had to create a profile that registered the game to my specific DS, and it gave me a message along the lines of "from now on, only use this DS to access wifi with this game." However, I may soon be getting a 3DS, and I was wondering if it was possible to change what DS the game is assigned to. I don't want to be unable to access wifi if I play on the new system.

  • What's the title of this book?

I read a book in middle school that was similar in some aspects to The Giver. The characters lived in a society where everyone had to wear a mask, so that no one would be different. The main character is disobedient, so he is put in a machine that makes him live the life of a Jew facing discrimination in the old days.

Anyone know the title of this story? I can't remember.

  • Free alternative to Flash?

Is there a free alternative to Adobe Flash? I use GIMP as an alternative to Photoshop and Inkscape as an alternative to Illustrator, but I'd like to try doing vector animation and such. Any tips on finding an open source/free alternative?

I've got Ubuntu and Mac OSX on this computer, and Windows 7 on my other one, so something for any one of those OSs would be fine.

    Thanks!

  • Skype input box font issue?

When using text chat in Skype, if I start my message with a quotation mark (") or colon (:), the font of the input box changes, and backslashes (\) become yen symbols. Is it switching to Japanese input or something? It's only started doing this recently, how can I disable it?
