Question for Newt Gingrich?
Would you consider offering current undocumented residents in the USA the opportunity to apply for citizenship if they came forward?
4 AnswersElections9 years agoRenege rule in single deck pinochle?
My family has been playing pinochle for many years. We sort of developed our own style and our own unique rules. We follow most of the standard rules but not strictly. We just play to have a lot of fun and we do. So here's my question: the rule on a renege - We play that if a renege occurs the person goes up for 25 and looses their meld. If the bidder reneges they go up the amount of their bid if it is higher than 25 and they loose their meld. The person or team that calls the renege keeps their meld. What we have had some heated "discussions" about is; Does play stop at a renege or does it continue and the team that calls the renege also counts their points taken during the play?
One more inquiry; if the play stops at a renege does the player or team that called the renege keep the points that they have taken up to the point of the renege?
6 AnswersCard Games1 decade agoWild cherry trees and Cyanide?
I was made aware of the cyanide that wild cherry trees produce through the wilted leaves and the bark. So I just had all of them removed from our horses pasture. The excavator was supposed to come here before the leaves sprouted but he couldn't make it. All the trees are gone but the ground is littered with small sticks and leaves. We are picking them up as well as we can but there will be some debris that we will miss.
My question is: How long will these leaves, bits and pieces stay toxic? When they rot away and decay in a few weeks or months will it be safe to open that pasture to her?
PS - I asked 3 vets, the feed store and the county agriculture agent. None of them had a definitive answer to this.
8 AnswersHorses1 decade agoEquation for ashes blowing in face?
Is there an equation that explains why when you throw ashes from your fire place out, they must blow back in your face. There has to be some physical law of nature that causes this to happen. Because no matter if the wind is blowing to your face, to your back, to your right or to your left, the ashes always blow back in your face. They even get you if there is no wind. So what is the law that governs this phenomena?
1 AnswerPhysics1 decade agoCyanide and the wild cherry tree leaf?
I have wild cherry trees growing on the border of my pasture. The wilted leaves produce cyanide that can kill a horse. I’ve talked to my vet at New Bolton and a vet that I met at a seminar last evening. I’ve contacted my county Ag agent. No one gave me a definitive answer.
My question is: how long does the cyanide stay in the leaves? Does it deteriorate after - - - How long? The vet that I met at the seminar told me that the leaves have to be attached to a fallen branch to be poisonous. She said that the leaves draw the cyanide from the branch. She didn’t think that the leaves that fall in Autumn were toxic. Then she added, “But I’m not 100% sure of that”.
Any insight on this is appreciated.

2 AnswersBotany1 decade agoAn observation re: Obama.?
Is the fawning and drooling over Obama by the mainstream media an over compensation for their inherent prejudices?
Does the same go for some whites whose excessive public display of adoration for the man seem to go a little over the top?
14 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIn your opinion, what would constitute absolute nothing?
Would it be zero Kelvin? Would it be a complete vacuum? Would it be zero energy? Would it be zero gravity or infinite gravity? Would it be all of these or a combination of some or something else?
This is not a philosophical question. I am trying to determine what that nothing was that the universe was borne from.
I've posted this over at Astronomy & Space also.

8 AnswersPsychology1 decade agoThey are called Lucid dreams?
I had one lucid dream many years ago but I remember it like it was the only dream I've ever had. It was a wonderful experience. Briefly, I was having one of those dreams that I couldn't get to where I wanted to go. Always ending up in the wrong place, usually a bad place. Then all of a sudden when confronted by an unsavory character, (sort of a monster type thing) I realized that I was dreaming and I took complete control. I played with the evil force. I dared it and taunted it and it was truly bewildered. Then I flew. Something I hate to do in reality and in dreams. It was great. I controlled every aspect of the dream.
QUESTION: has this ever happened to you and do you know how to bring this state of consciencousness about?
Here is a description of lucid dreaming:
"Lucid Dreaming is dreaming while knowing that you are dreaming. This fascinating state of consciousness allows you to control your dreams and experience anything imaginable, from the sublime to the impossible."

This is not a trick question, I am sincerely curious about this.
My question: Is there any black conservative that you would vote for, for President?
Would you consider voting for Dr. Condoleezza Rice

Or General Colin Powell

Or J.C. Watts
2 AnswersElections1 decade agoI woke up and everything got bigger!?
What if we woke up tomorrow and everything doubled in size, from atoms and the smallest particles that make them up to the universe itself. The distance between all objects doubled and even the speed of light doubled.
Would we know that this happened?
4 AnswersOther - Science1 decade ago300,000,000 into 150,000,000,000 = 500 . . . right?
I never was great with large figures but every time I do the math I get the same answer. If this is correct I can't see what the government is doing here. Personally I don't think this rebate thing is a good idea especially when they are saying that retirees on social security who didn't earn enough to pay any taxes, won't get a rebate. That's really dumb. I would think that those who don't make enough money to pay taxes need that money more than anyone.
With that said, my question is: If there are around three hundred million people in the USA and they are doling out a hundred and fifty billion dollars, shouldn't every citizen of the US get $500.00?
